Shar Jackson

Sharisse Jackson, born August 31, 1976, is an American actress and performer. She is best known for portraying Niecy Jackson on the UPN television sitcom Moesha from 1996 to 2001. In 2007, she achieved further reality television recognition when she was crowned the winner of the MTV reality competition show Celebrity Rap Superstar.

Jackson was born in Boston, Massachusetts. Her background includes mixed African-American and Puerto Rican heritage through her mother.

Her acting career gained prominence with her role as the best friend of the titular character, played by Brandy Norwood, on Moesha. In the same year her run on Moesha began, she appeared as Carlene in the HBO project Grand Avenue. During this period, Jackson also took on television roles in series such as My So-Called Life, The Parkers, and The Bernie Mac Show. In 1997, she co-starred alongside Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell in the Nickelodeon film Good Burger.

In addition to her television and film acting, Jackson pursued music as a member and writer for the short-lived pop girl group Mpulz. The group recorded the single "The Journey," which was featured on the soundtrack for the film The Princess Diaries.

Jackson subsequently expanded into various reality television projects. She appeared on the ABC reality show The Ex-Wives Club alongside Marla Maples and Angie Everhart, a program aimed at supporting individuals dealing with separation or divorce. In 2010, she participated in the seventh season of VH1's Celebrity Fit Club: Boot Camp, and later featured alongside her daughter Cassie in the 2016 Lifetime reality series The Mother/Daughter Experiment: Celebrity Edition.

Throughout her film career, Jackson was cast in the 2009 project I Do... I Did! as well as the dance-oriented film Steppin: The Movie. More recently, in 2023, she made a cameo appearance in the film reboot Good Burger 2.
