Sara Carbonero

Sara Carbonero Arévalo is a Spanish sports journalist and television presenter. She became well known for her broadcast work with Telecinco starting in the early 2000s, serving as an editor and sports presenter for the network.

Carbonero studied journalism at the Complutense University of Madrid. During her third year of her bachelor's degree, she began an internship at Radio Marca, where she was officially hired six months later. In April 2009, she signed with Telecinco, expanding her broadcasting presence as a sports editor and host.

During her career at Telecinco, Carbonero was heavily involved in sports coverage, including the 2010 FIFA World Cup. While reporting near the pitch during a match between Spain and Switzerland, allegations emerged in the English press suggesting her presence distracted goalkeeper Iker Casillas. These claims were widely rejected as preposterous by major Spanish newspapers. The surrounding controversy and her subsequent post-match interview with Casillas made her one of the most photographed figures of the tournament. Following the World Cup, she joined the Italian digital platform Mediaset Premium for the 2010–11 season to cover La Liga and José Mourinho's tenure at Real Madrid.

Beyond her sports journalism work, Carbonero expanded into fashion and lifestyle projects. In 2015, she co-founded Slow Love, an online brand selling clothing, accessories, and beauty products alongside two friends. In July 2016, she returned to television hosting duties on Telecinco for the fashion competition show titled "Quiero Ser" (I Want to Be).

Carbonero has received notable attention in global media, including being voted "The Sexiest Reporter in the World" by the American edition of FHM in July 2009.

In her personal life, Carbonero was in a relationship with Iker Casillas beginning in 2009. The couple married in March 2016 and have two sons, Martín and Lucas. The family relocated to Porto, Portugal, in July 2015 when Casillas joined the local football team, leading Carbonero to relocate from her primary position at Telecinco. In March 2021, the couple announced their mutual decision to separate. Regarding her health, Carbonero successfully underwent surgery to remove a malignant ovarian tumor in May 2019 and faced a subsequent hospitalization in February 2021.
