Sam Smith

Samuel Frederick Smith, known professionally as Sam Smith, is an English singer and songwriter. Born in London in 1992, Smith developed an early interest in music, taking singing lessons and performing in youth musical theater and jazz ensembles during their youth.

Smith gained widespread public attention in 2012 after featuring on the breakthrough single Latch by the electronic duo Disclosure, followed by a feature on Naughty Boy's UK number-one single La La La in 2013. Smith released their debut studio album, In the Lonely Hour, in 2014. The album yielded major international hit singles, including Money on My Mind and Stay with Me, and earned four Grammy Awards at the 57th Annual Grammy Ceremony, including Best New Artist, Record of the Year, and Song of the Year.

In the following years, Smith recorded Writing's on the Wall, the theme song for the James Bond film Spectre (2015), which won the Academy Award for Best Original Song and a Golden Globe Award. Smith subsequently released the hit studio albums The Thrill of It All (2017), Love Goes (2020), and Gloria (2023). The single Unholy, a collaboration with Kim Petras from Gloria, reached number one on both the UK Singles Chart and the US Billboard Hot 100, and won a Grammy Award for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance. Smith remains active in the music industry as a recording artist and international performing act.
