Tiffany Young

Stephanie Young Hwang, known professionally as Tiffany or Tiffany Young, is an American singer-songwriter and actress of Korean descent. She is best known as a member of the South Korean girl group Girls' Generation and its subgroup Girls' Generation-TTS, as well as for her solo music and acting career. Born on August 1, 1989, in San Francisco, California, she grew up in Diamond Bar, California, in a household influenced by both Korean and American cultures.

Inspired by the artist BoA, Young participated in a singing contest at age 15, where she was spotted by an SM Entertainment representative. She moved to South Korea shortly after to undergo nearly four years of training while attending Korea Kent Foreign School. In August 2007, she officially debuted as a member of Girls' Generation under the stage name Tiffany. Aside from group releases, her early career included recording side projects, hosting television programs, and playing Carmen Diaz in a 2011 Korean production of the musical Fame.

In April 2012, Young joined her bandmates Taeyeon and Seohyun to form the subgroup TTS, releasing the EPs Twinkle, Holler, and Dear Santa. She made her solo debut in May 2016 with the EP I Just Wanna Dance, which reached number three on both the Billboard World Albums Chart and South Korea's Gaon Album Chart. Following the release of her single "Heartbreak Hotel" and a solo concert series, Young received public criticism in August 2016 for social media posts featuring Japanese flag imagery on Korean Liberation Day, resulting in her departure from the variety show Sister's Slam Dunk.

Young parted ways with SM Entertainment in October 2017 while remaining in Girls' Generation, moving to Los Angeles to study acting and pursue a U.S. solo career. Signing with Paradigm Talent Agency and Transparent Arts, she released singles such as "Over My Skin", "Teach You", and "Peppermint". In February 2019, she released her EP Lips on Lips, which achieved Platinum certification in South Korea and earned her the Best Solo Breakout award at the 2019 iHeartRadio Music Awards.

After touring North America and Asia for her single "Magnetic Moon" in 2019, Young joined the South Korean production of Chicago as Roxie Hart in 2021 and made her television acting debut in the drama Reborn Rich. She signed with the agency Sublime in December 2022. In April 2026, she signed with the Korean branch of Pacific Music Group, subsequently releasing the single "Summer's Not Over" in May and her debut studio album, Edge of Calm, in August 2026.

Throughout her career, Young has modeled and served as a brand ambassador for various companies, including H&M, IOPE, Atelier Cologne, and Moschino. She is also an active advocate for the LGBT community, having contributed to Pride Month events and expressed her support publicly. In February 2026, she legally registered her marriage to South Korean actor Byun Yo-han.
