Sandra Diaz-Twine

Sandra Diaz-Twine, born July 30, 1974, is an American reality television personality who gained prominence through her multiple appearances on the competition series Survivor. She became widely recognized after winning the first two seasons in which she competed, making her the initial contestant in the show's history to achieve two titles. Audience members and commentators often identify her as one of the most successful participants in the franchise's history.

Originally from Stamford, Connecticut, Diaz-Twine served in the United States Army, filling roles as a chemical repair specialist and an office administrator. She later settled in Fayetteville, North Carolina, with her husband Marcus, a career military officer, and their two children. Outside of her television work, she was employed as a secretary for a legal firm. In a February 2026 podcast interview on Rob Has a Podcast with host Rob Cesternino, she disclosed that she and her spouse had both retired.

She began her reality television career on Survivor: Pearl Islands. Despite early vulnerabilities concerning physical endurance and swimming abilities, she proved valuable to her group through her knowledge of Spanish and resourcefulness in procuring supplies. Operating under a core philosophy of ensuring her own safety at each council regardless of who else was targeted, she maneuvered through changing tribal dynamics to reach the Final Two. She ultimately won the season in a six-to-one vote against contestant Lillian Morris.

After turning down a spot on Survivor: All-Stars while recovering from parasites contracted during her first season, and being removed late in casting for Survivor: Micronesia, Diaz-Twine returned for Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains. Assigned to the Villains group, she adapted to internal rift shifts and reached the Final Three alongside two other participants. By receiving six votes from the jury, she earned her second championship title and famously designated herself the Queen of Survivor.

Diaz-Twine made her third appearance on Survivor: Game Changers. Marked as a prominent target due to her past record, she was eliminated in fifteenth place, ending her run as the highest-placing former winner of that season. She returned to the show for Survivor: Island of the Idols alongside Rob Mariano, serving as a non-competing mentor who provided strategic guidance to players before leaving the island near the end of the season.

In Survivor: Winners at War, she participated in her fourth game overall. After sixteen days, she was eliminated following a strategic play involving two hidden idols, after which she chose to depart from the Edge of Extinction area as the sole participant to do so. In 2022, she entered her fifth season within the franchise by appearing with her daughter Nina on Australian Survivor: Blood V Water.
