About Parvati Shallow
Parvati Shallow (born September 21, 1982) is an American television personality best known for competing across multiple seasons of the reality game show Survivor. She is a two-time champion of the franchise, securing her first victory on Survivor: Micronesia – Fans vs. Favorites in 2008 and her second representing the United States on Australian Survivor: Australia V The World in 2025. Over her television career, she has competed in five Survivor seasons and emerged as one of the show's most recognized strategists.
Shallow was born in Vero Beach, Florida, and spent her early childhood living in the Kashi Ashram commune in Sebastian, Florida. Founded by Ma Jaya, who assigned Shallow her Hindu name, the commune was later described by Shallow as a high-control environment. At age 11, Shallow relocated with her three siblings to Marietta, Georgia, where she attended Sprayberry High School. She later earned a Bachelor of Journalism degree from the University of Georgia, where she was a member of the Alpha Omicron Pi sorority. In 2004, she began competitive boxing and co-founded Knockouts for Girls, a non-profit organization offering boxing lessons and academic scholarships to underprivileged girls. Prior to her television debut, she relocated to West Hollywood, California.
After auditioning for MTV's The Real World in 2003 and later auditioning for The Amazing Race, network producers selected Shallow to join Survivor: Cook Islands in 2006. Starting on the Rarotonga tribe, she relied on a social and flirtatious gameplay style to build alliances. She survived multiple tribal councils and won individual reward challenges before being voted out on day 36, finishing in sixth place.
Shallow returned for Survivor: Micronesia – Fans vs. Favorites in 2008 as part of the Malakal tribe. She formed pivotal alliances, notably co-founding an all-female coalition that executed major strategic blindsides during the post-merge phase. After reaching the final two, she defeated Amanda Kimmel in a 5–3 jury vote to earn the title of Sole Survivor. In 2010, Shallow competed on Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains on the Villains tribe. She reached the finals after winning three individual challenges and strategically playing two hidden immunity idols simultaneously at a single tribal council, ultimately placing second behind Sandra Diaz-Twine.
In 2020, Shallow returned for Survivor: Winners at War as a member of the Sele tribe. Following a tribe swap, she was placed in a minority position and was voted out in episode six, finishing in 15th place. In 2025, she joined the World tribe on Australian Survivor: Australia V The World, competing against former Australian contestants and international players to capture her second series victory.
Known for leveraging strategic sociability and flirtation on screen, Shallow acquired the nickname "Black Widow," a title she carried into appearances on reality programs such as The Traitors 2 and Deal or No Deal Island 2. Beyond television, she incorporated the moniker into her career as a life coach, developing the personal empowerment course How Villains are Made. She is also the author and host of Nice Girls Don't Win, a project encompassing both a book and a podcast.
