Castro was born in Bello and raised in the Pedregal neighbourhood of northern Medellín, Antioquia. Showing an early talent for rap, freestyle, and dancehall during high school, he graduated at age 17 and began singing on buses to contribute to his household's support. These bus performances helped him build confidence, leading to appearances in bars, clubs, and local events. He later traveled to Curaçao, finding creative inspiration near the sea to compose his music.
He began his professional career in Colombia in 2017 by releasing the single "Morena" and promoting his work on YouTube and SoundCloud. After signing with Kevin Roldán's label, Kings Records, Castro achieved local success in 2020 with his single "Lejanía". He followed this with tracks including "Wasa Wasa" and "Malory", and released the duet "Monastery" with Colombian artist Feid in November 2021.
Castro achieved international success with the December 2021 release of "Mujeriego", which entered the Billboard Global 200 chart. By the end of 2021, he had established himself as part of the new generation of emerging Latin American artists. In early 2022, he featured on the remix of "Quién TV" with Blessd, performed "Nivel de Perreo" alongside J Balvin at the MTV Video Music Awards, and signed a distribution deal with Sony Music.
In 2022, Castro won two categories at the Premios Heat, where he was nominated for Best Andean-Region Artist and Best New Generation—Male. He released his seven-track debut EP, Reggaetonera, in August 2022, followed by his second EP, Los Piratas, with producer SOG. In June 2023, he initiated legal action against Kings Records over disagreements regarding management, publishing, and recording handling.
Throughout 2023 and 2024, Castro released numerous projects, including the single "Ghetto Star" and collaborations such as "Quema" with Peso Pluma, which charted on the US Billboard Hot 100. In May 2024, he released his debut studio album, El Cantante del Ghetto, through Sony Music Latin.
