Ryan Cabrera

Ryan Frank Cabrera is an American musician best known for his solo music career, including the hit pop-rock single "On the Way Down" and his platinum-certified major-label debut album, Take It All Away. He initially began his career as the lead singer for Texas bands before establishing himself as a solo recording artist, television personality, and collaborator across various musical projects.

Cabrera was born in Dallas, Texas, to a Colombian father and an American mother. Raised in Flower Mound, Texas, he attended Jesuit College Preparatory School of Dallas, graduating in 2000. During high school, he served as the lead singer of a punk band called Caine. After graduation, he briefly attended The University of Texas at Dallas before dropping out to pursue music.

After leaving school, Cabrera joined the band Rubix Groove, which opened for acts like Cheap Trick and Third Eye Blind. His songwriting caught the attention of a studio engineer, allowing him to record his independent album Elm St. for free in 2001. He signed with Atlantic Records in 2002 and released his debut major single, "On the Way Down," in May 2004. The song reached number 15 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart.

His debut major-label album, Take It All Away, was released on August 17, 2004. Produced by Goo Goo Dolls lead singer John Rzeznik, it debuted at number eight on the Billboard 200, sold over two million copies, and earned Platinum certification. The album produced further singles, including "True" and "40 Kinds of Sadness." Cabrera also contributed songs to the soundtracks for Son of the Mask and Fantastic Four, and released a concert film titled Live at the Wiltern.

Cabrera released his second album, You Stand Watching, in September 2005, featuring the singles "Shine On" and "Photo." In 2006, he released "I Will Remember You," which was used in the series finale of Will & Grace and on So You Think You Can Dance. His third album, The Moon Under Water, was released in May 2008.

In 2013, Cabrera launched the monthly charity web series Live From Ryan's Living Room and toured internationally. Signing to Dynamite Music in 2014, he released the single "House on Fire," which peaked at number one on the US dance chart, followed by the 2015 EP Wake Up Beautiful. Late in 2015, Cabrera took the lead in forming Beyond the Sky, a musical project that released its first single in 2016.

Cabrera has appeared on several television programs, including hosting the 2005 MTV series Score and making appearances on reality shows such as The Ashlee Simpson Show, The Hills, Pretty Wild, and Miz & Mrs. Outside of television and music, Cabrera married professional wrestler Alexis Kaufman, known as Alexa Bliss, in April 2022, and they had a daughter in November 2023. In 2020, Cabrera organized the Camp Fire Concert Special livestream, raising over $30,000 for charity.
