Nargis Fakhri

Nargis Mohammed Fakhri is an American film actress and model who works primarily in Hindi cinema. Born on October 20, 1979, in Queens, New York City, she is the daughter of Mohammed Fakhri, who was Pakistani, and Marie Fakhri, a former police officer of Czech origin. She grew up in Mohegan Lake, New York, alongside her younger sister, Aliya. Her parents divorced when she was six years old, and her father passed away a few years later. Due to her background, Fakhri identifies as a global citizen.

Fakhri began her career as a model at age 16. In 2004, she appeared as a contestant on the second and third cycles of America's Next Top Model. She subsequently worked as a professional model in the United States, appearing in fashion shows and working with freelance agencies. Her prominence increased significantly following her appearance in a popular print campaign for the 2009 Kingfisher Calendar in India. This campaign drew the attention of Indian filmmaker Imtiaz Ali, leading to her entry into Indian cinema.

She made her acting debut in 2011 as the female lead in Imtiaz Ali's musical romantic drama Rockstar, playing a rich Kashmiri Pandit woman opposite Ranbir Kapoor. Because of her limited fluency in Hindi, her voice was dubbed by artist Mona Ghosh Shetty. Rockstar emerged as one of the top-grossing Hindi films of the year and earned Fakhri several nominations for Best Female Debut, including a Filmfare Award nomination. In 2013, she played a British war correspondent in Shoojit Sircar's political thriller Madras Cafe, delivering her own dialogues, and performed an item number in the action comedy Phata Poster Nikhla Hero.

Fakhri continued her career in 2014 with the commercially successful romantic comedy Main Tera Hero and featured in a popular song sequence in the action thriller Kick. In 2015, she made her Hollywood debut in Paul Feig's action comedy Spy, playing the antagonist Lia alongside Melissa McCarthy, Jason Statham, and Jude Law. The film grossed $235.7 million worldwide, and her performance earned her an MTV Movie Award nomination for Best Fight.

In 2016, Fakhri made a special appearance in the Tamil film Saagasam and starred in the biographical drama Azhar, the ensemble comedy Housefull 3, the musical drama Banjo, and a cameo role in Dishoom. Outside of acting, she served as a One Young World counselor in Bogota in October 2017. Her later projects include the 2018 Hollywood romantic comedy 5 Weddings, the 2019 horror film Amavas, and the 2025 comedy film Housefull 5.

In her personal life, Fakhri previously dated actor Uday Chopra and filmmaker Matt Alonzo. On February 16, 2025, she married Los Angeles-based businessman Tony Beig following a three-year relationship.
