Mick Jagger

Sir Michael Philip Jagger (born 26 July 1943) is an English musician, songwriter, and film producer best known as the lead singer and founding member of the Rolling Stones. Born in Dartford, Kent, he was raised by his father, Basil "Joe" Jagger, a physical education teacher, and his mother, Eva, a hairdresser politically active in the Conservative Party. Jagger sang in a church choir as a child. He attended Wentworth Primary School, where he first met Keith Richards in 1950, and later attended Dartford Grammar School.

In the mid-1950s, Jagger formed a garage band with Dick Taylor. After re-connecting with Richards at Dartford railway station in 1961 over a shared interest in rhythm and blues, Jagger formed a group called the Blues Boys. Jagger left school in 1961 after passing his exams to study finance and accounting at the London School of Economics on a government grant, considering careers in journalism or politics. Soon after, Jagger, Richards, and Brian Jones played with Alexis Korner's group Blues Incorporated, laying the groundwork for the Rolling Stones.

In 1963, Jagger left his studies to pursue his musical career with the Rolling Stones full-time. Encouraged by manager Andrew Loog Oldham, Jagger and Richards formed a prolific songwriting partnership. They composed tracks such as "As Tears Go By" for Marianne Faithfull, alongside the band's international hits "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction" and "The Last Time". The Rolling Stones achieved commercial success with early albums like Out of Our Heads and Aftermath. During the late 1960s, Jagger faced legal troubles and a brief detention over drug charges. Following the departure and death of founding member Brian Jones in 1969, the group headlined a memorial concert in Hyde Park.

In 1970, Jagger starred in the feature films Performance and Ned Kelly. To avoid high tax rates in the United Kingdom, Jagger and his bandmates moved to Southern France as tax exiles in 1971. Around this time, Jagger took control of the Rolling Stones' business affairs, managing the band's commercial operations alongside business adviser Prince Rupert Loewenstein.

Starting in the 1980s, Jagger launched a solo career, releasing four albums and the 1985 duet single "Dancing in the Street" with David Bowie, which reached No. 1 in the UK and Australia. In the 2000s, he co-founded the production company Jagged Films, producing the 2001 feature Enigma, and later joined the supergroup SuperHeavy from 2009 to 2011. Although relationships with bandmates deteriorated during the 1980s, Jagger experienced greater commercial success with the Rolling Stones than with his solo projects.

Jagger was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1989 and the UK Music Hall of Fame in 2004. He was knighted for his services to popular music in 2003. Throughout his career, he achieved 13 No. 1 singles on the UK and US charts as a solo artist and band member. Jagger was married to Bianca Pérez-Mora Macias from 1971 to 1978 and has eight children with five women.
