Marie Osmond

Olive Marie Osmond, born October 13, 1959, is an American singer, actress, author, and businesswoman. Known for her career across country music, television, and stage, she achieved four number-one singles on the US Hot Country Songs chart. Beyond her musical work, she has hosted national television programs, acted in Broadway musicals and films, authored several books, and helped found the Children's Miracle Network.

Osmond was born in Ogden, Utah, as the eighth of nine children and the only daughter of Olive May and George Virl Osmond. Raised as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she grew up in a musical household. After several of her brothers achieved musical success on The Andy Williams Show during the 1960s, her family relocated to Los Angeles. Osmond made her television debut on the same show in 1964 at four years old.

In 1973, Osmond launched her recording career as a country artist. At age 14, her debut single, a cover of "Paper Roses," reached number one on the US and Canadian country charts, making her the youngest female artist with a number-one US country single. In 1974, she began a successful recording partnership with her brother Donny Osmond, producing a series of top-forty pop hits. From 1976 to 1979, the siblings co-hosted their own network variety series, Donny & Marie, while continuing to release duet albums.

After a period performing with her family and attempting acting roles in the early 1980s, Osmond signed with Capitol Records in 1985 to refocus on country music. Between 1985 and 1986, she scored three more number-one country singles: "Meet Me in Montana" (a duet with Dan Seals), "There's No Stopping Your Heart," and "You're Still New to Me" (a duet with Paul Davis). Her track with Seals earned the Vocal Duo of the Year award at the Country Music Association Awards. In the 1990s, Osmond launched a doll collection sold on QVC, made her Broadway debut in The King and I in 1994, and authored a memoir regarding her struggles with postpartum depression.

Osmond reunited professionally with Donny to host the talk show Donny & Marie from 1998 to 2000. In 2008, the duo began a concert residency at the Flamingo hotel in Las Vegas. Running through 2019 with 1,730 performances, it became the longest-running singing act in Las Vegas history and won multiple Best of Las Vegas Awards. Osmond also competed on Dancing with the Stars in 2007, hosted a radio series, and co-hosted the daytime show The Talk from 2019 to 2020.

Osmond returned to solo recording with albums including I Can Do This in 2010 and Music Is Medicine in 2016, which reached the top ten of the US country albums chart. In 2021, she released Unexpected, an operatic and traditional pop project recorded with the Prague Symphony Orchestra that reached number one on the US classical crossover chart. She has also appeared in television movies, including Lifetime's The Christmas Edition in 2020.
