Mamoru Miyano

Mamoru Miyano is a Japanese voice actor, live-action performer, and singer born on June 8, 1983, in Saitama Prefecture. He is widely recognized for his extensive voice work across prominent anime, film, and video game franchises. Among his most prominent voice roles are Light Yagami in Death Note, Setsuna F. Seiei in Mobile Suit Gundam 00, Rintaro Okabe in Steins;Gate, Tamaki Suoh in Ouran High School Host Club, Ling Yao in Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, Death The Kid in Soul Eater, and Osamu Dazai in Bungo Stray Dogs, as well as Riku in the Kingdom Hearts video game series.

Raised in Saitama Prefecture, Miyano entered the entertainment industry by joining the Himawari Theatre Group, following the influence of his older brother, Shota. During his high school years, he felt uncertain about his future and temporarily skipped dance and vocal lessons. He eventually developed his musical style through music lessons while listening to groups like CHEMISTRY and Exile. Early in his acting career, he made a brief appearance as a child in a flashback sequence on the series Tokusou Exceedraft.

Miyano made his official voice acting debut in 2001 by providing vocals for the Japanese dub of the live-action television series Caitlin's Way. Soon after, he secured notable voice roles as Riku in Kingdom Hearts, Kiba in Wolf's Rain, and his first anime television role in Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Children - Light & Dark. His major breakthrough occurred when he was cast as Light Yagami in Death Note, a performance that earned him nominations for Best Lead Actor and Best New Actor at the inaugural Seiyu Awards in 2007.

Following his breakthrough, Miyano established a successful music career with King Records, launching his debut single "Kuon" in May 2007. His portrayal of Setsuna F. Seiei in Mobile Suit Gundam 00 and Hakugen Rikuson in Kōtetsu Sangokushi led to his first win for Best Lead Actor at the 2nd Seiyu Awards in 2008, along with being named Best Voice Actor at the 2008 Tokyo International Anime Fair. He continued to release successful singles, including "Discovery" and "...Kimi e," while landing key roles in series such as Vampire Knight, Free!, and Bungo Stray Dogs.

In March 2009, Miyano released his debut studio album, Break, and launched his first concert tour shortly after. His musical endeavors marked several historical milestones; in 2013, he became the first male voice actor to hold a solo concert at the Nippon Budokan arena. He later became the first male voice actor to achieve a number-one daily single on the Oricon chart in 2015, as well as the first to top the weekly Blu-ray chart in June 2017, the same year he held his initial overseas solo concert in Taiwan.

Beyond voice acting and music, Miyano has frequently performed in tokusatsu projects, most notably providing the voice for Ultraman Zero starting with the 2009 film Mega Monster Battle: Ultra Galaxy Legend The Movie and continuing across various television entries and live stage shows. His ongoing voice work includes major productions such as Pluto and Blue Lock. In June 2025, upon the expiration of his contract with Himawari Theatre Group, he announced his move to the agency Ken-On.

In 2008, Miyano announced his marriage and the birth of his son later that year. On December 21, 2023, he released an official statement announcing his divorce.
