Kim Sung-kyu

Kim Sung-kyu, also known by the mononyms Sunggyu or Sungkyu, is a South Korean singer-songwriter, actor, and television personality. He is the leader and main vocalist of the South Korean boy band Infinite, as well as the head of the group's agency, Infinite Company. Beside his ensemble work, he has established a solo recording career and actively performs in musical theater and television programs.

Born on April 28, 1989, in Jeonju, South Korea, Kim developed an early interest in music as a member of a high school rock band named Coma Beat while attending Jeonju National University High School. Although his parents initially opposed his musical ambitions, he relocated to Seoul following his high school graduation to pursue a performance career. After failing auditions for SM Entertainment in 2007 and 2008, he auditioned for Woollim Entertainment on the recommendation of rock band Nell's manager. He was accepted as a trainee and joined Infinite, debuting on June 9, 2010. He later earned a degree from Daekyung University's Practical Music program, where he was honored with the Proud Daekyung University Student Award, and also studied practical music at Hoseo University.

Following his debut with Infinite, Kim expanded into individual activities, hosting radio broadcasts, contributing voice work for animation, and making his musical theater debut in Gwanghwamun Sonata in 2012. He launched his solo music career in November 2012 with the release of his first extended play, Another Me, which topped the domestic Gaon Album Chart. He followed with his second mini-album, 27, in 2015, which earned top positions on both domestic and Billboard charts. In 2018, he released his first full-length solo album, 10 Stories, prior to beginning his mandatory military service in May 2018. During his enlistment in the 22nd Infantry Division, he participated in military theatrical productions before his discharge in early 2020.

In March 2021, Kim departed Woollim Entertainment after choosing not to renew his contract, subsequently signing with DoubleH TNE while remaining an active member of Infinite. He continued to publish solo music, releasing projects such as Inside Me, Won't Forget You, Savior, and 2023 S/S Collection, alongside mounting several solo concert tours across Asia. In May 2023, he was named representative of the newly established Infinite Company to manage the group's ongoing activities.

Throughout his career, Kim has maintained a steady presence on stage and screen. His theatrical credits include roles in productions such as Vampire, In The Heights, Amadeus, Red Book, Dear Evan Hansen, and Kinky Boots. On television, he has appeared as a cast member, presenter, or judge on various broadcasts, including High Society 2, The Genius: Rules of the Game, Girl Spirit, Singderella, Peak Time, and the web travel series Tour Fairy.
