Delta Goodrem

Delta Lea Goodrem AM is an Australian singer, songwriter, and actress who was born in Sydney on 9 November 1984. She has achieved nine number-one singles and 17 top-ten hits on the ARIA Singles Chart, selling over eight million albums globally. Throughout her career, Goodrem has earned three World Music Awards, 12 ARIA Music Awards, an MTV Video Music Award, and various other accolades.

Goodrem was raised by her parents, Lea and Denis Goodrem, alongside her younger brother, Trent. At age seven, she began playing piano and taking singing, dancing, and acting lessons, appearing in television advertisements and securing minor roles in Australian series including Hey Dad..!, A Country Practice, and Police Rescue. At age 13, she recorded a five-song demo CD that was passed to talent manager Glenn Wheatley, who signed her to an artist development deal with Empire Records. An early pop album recorded between 1999 and 2000 was ultimately blocked from release following an intervention by her parents.

At age 15, Goodrem signed a recording contract with Sony Music. In 2002, she joined the cast of the television soap opera Neighbours as Nina Tucker, a role that earned her the Logie Award for Most Popular New Talent in 2003. Her piano ballad "Born to Try" reached number one in Australia and New Zealand. Her debut studio album, Innocent Eyes (2003), topped the ARIA Albums Chart for 29 non-consecutive weeks and sold over four million copies worldwide. In July 2003, Goodrem was diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma, taking a break from her career to undergo treatment. Despite her illness, her singles continued to chart successfully, and she won seven ARIA Music Awards later that year.

After entering remission in late 2003, Goodrem addressed a legal dispute surrounding her early unreleased recordings, which was settled in mediation. She launched her own lingerie line, became the face of Pepsi in Australia, and starred in her first feature film, Hating Alison Ashley (2005). Her second studio album, Mistaken Identity (2004), was inspired by her battle with cancer and debuted at number one in Australia. In 2005, she embarked on her first headline tour, The Visualise Tour, and later performed "Together We Are One" at the 2006 Commonwealth Games opening ceremony.

Goodrem released her third number-one album, Delta, in 2007, featuring the number-one single "In This Life." Her fourth studio album, Child of the Universe (2012), produced the single "Sitting on Top of the World." She achieved further number-one albums with Wings of the Wild (2016), which included the single "Wings," and Bridge over Troubled Dreams in May 2021.

In addition to her recording career, Goodrem served as a coach on The Voice Australia for eight seasons between 2012 and 2020, and on The Voice Kids in 2014. Since 2020, she has hosted the annual special Christmas with Delta on the Nine Network. Goodrem represented Australia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 with "Eclipse," placing fourth. Her subsequent plans include competing on Strictly Come Dancing in the United Kingdom and releasing her eighth studio album, Pure.
