David Meister

David Meister is an American fashion designer who is best known for his women's wear, including eveningwear, dresses, and couture red carpet designs. Born on February 23, 1962, he was raised in Cincinnati, Ohio. As a young child, he was heavily influenced by style-conscious television shows such as Sonny & Cher, which fueled his early aspiration to pursue a career in fashion design.

Meister attended La Salle High School in Cincinnati, graduating in 1980. He pursued his higher education at The University of Cincinnati College of Design, Art, Architecture and Planning, where he earned a degree in fashion design in 1985. Following his graduation, Meister relocated to New York City and accepted a position working at Danskin.

In November 1998, Meister partnered with a Californian division of the Kellwood Company to develop his own signature evening collection. Five months after forming this partnership, he premiered his first fall line, which featured a compilation of modern eveningwear designs. His career continued to expand as he created various lines for major retailers and specialized markets.

Over the course of his career, Meister introduced several notable collections. In August 2009, he launched his Signature collection exclusively at Bergdorf Goodman. The following year, in 2010, he launched an exclusive Bridal Collection in collaboration with Designer Bride, offering a range of twelve distinct styles that were made available at bridal boutiques nationwide.

Meister's dresses, evening wear, and red carpet designs have been worn by numerous socialites and celebrities. Notably, actress Diane Lane selected a Meister design to wear to the 2009 Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards. His label is retailed at major high-end venues, including Neiman Marcus, Bloomingdale's, and Saks Fifth Avenue. Professional recognition for his work includes his membership in the Council of Fashion Designers of America.
