Bligg

Marco Bliggensdorfer, born on 30 September 1976 in Zurich, is a Swiss rapper professionally known as Bligg. He is widely recognized for his successful music career in Switzerland, where his albums 0816 and Bart Aber Herzlich reached the top spot on the Swiss charts, alongside several other releases that achieved Top 20 status.

Bligg began freestyling at the age of 16. In 1995, he released the limited vinyl EP Zürislang Freistiil alongside Lügner, Tiisär, and DJ Cutmando, marking the first major showcase of his rapping. Three years later, he teamed up with rapper and producer Alex Storrer (Lexx) to form the hip hop duo Bligg'n'Lexx. Working together on Chocolate, Cheese and Sounds, they released their debut single Schnitzeljagd in 1999, which was remixed by DJ Cutmando. In 2000, the duo collaborated with Pete Penicka on the single Du & Ich for their debut and only studio album, Nahdisnah.

Bligg signed as a solo act with Universal Switzerland and released his debut solo album, Normal, in 2001, reaching number 20 on the Swiss charts. The album featured collaborations with Spooman, Lexx, Stress, The Alkaholiks, and Emel. The singles Alles scho mal ghört and Relaxtra both reached the Swiss Singles Chart Top 20, with Relaxtra being re-released as an EP in 2002. Bligg subsequently switched to Nation Music and released his second album, Odyssey, in 2004, which reached number 19 and featured producers across Switzerland alongside guest artists such as Kool Savas and Stephanie. Following the popularity of the single King Size, Bligg toured with DJ Cutmando and additional musicians.

In 2005, Bligg released Okey Dokey through Musikvertrieb-Label, marking the first Dualdisc release on the Swiss market. The album included the television suicide prevention campaign single Gang Nöd. He followed this in 2006 with Mit Liib & Seel, where he sang for the first time and incorporated English lyrics, later touring with a seven-piece band. His 2007 album, Yves Spink, was created in his studio with DJ Cutmando and reached the Top 10. The album featured the song Suzanne, dedicated to news moderator Susanne Wille. Later in 2007, the folk group Streichmusik Alder performed Bligg's song Volksmusigg on the TV show Die grössten Schweizer Hits; the resulting single spent 20 weeks on the Swiss charts and led to a tour together.

Inspired by this collaboration, Bligg integrated traditional folk elements such as the Hammered dulcimer into his music. In October 2008, he released his fifth album, 0816, which reached number one on the Swiss charts, supported by the top-five single Rosalie. He toured from January to April 2009 with a band featuring accordion and dulcimer player Nicolas Senn. Between 2010 and 2020, Bligg released six more albums: Bart aber herzlich, Service publigg, Instinkt, KombiNation, Unplugged, and Okey Dokey II, all of which reached the Top 5 on the Official Swiss Charts.
