Amber Midthunder

Amber Thunder Rose Midthunder is an American actress. She is widely known for starring as Naru in the 2022 film Prey, which serves as the fifth entry and initial prequel in the Predator series. She has also maintained main roles on television series such as FX's Legion and The CW's Roswell, New Mexico.

Born on April 26, 1997, on the Navajo Nation in Shiprock, New Mexico, Midthunder later spent much of her youth in Santa Fe, where she went to the Academy for Technology and the Classics. She eventually moved back to Shiprock. She is a citizen of the Fort Peck Assiniboine and Sioux Tribe. Her mother is an actor, casting director, and stunt performer of Thai-Chinese heritage from Thailand, and her father is an actor of Hunkpapa Lakota, Sisseton Dakota, and Sahiyaiyeskabi Assiniboine background. Her parents originally met on the set of the 1995 Japanese film East Meets West.

While growing up, Midthunder took an early interest in acting by memorizing dialogue from her favorite series. However, after disliking her initial acting attempt, she temporarily stepped away from the field. During this time, she explored other paths, interning in makeup artistry and training in mixed martial arts, which included instructing Brazilian jiu-jitsu.

Midthunder earned her initial acting credit with a minor appearance in the 2008 movie Sunshine Cleaning. She subsequently appeared in various local productions in New Mexico before relocating to Los Angeles at age 17 to expand her acting career. Over time, her television credits expanded to include roles on shows such as Longmire, Banshee, and Reservation Dogs.

In her film career, Midthunder played a skilled trucker opposite Liam Neeson in the 2021 thriller The Ice Road. She gained significant acclaim in 2022 for her lead role in Prey, depicting a young Comanche healer striving to become a hunter. The project marked the first major Hollywood franchise movie featuring an entirely Native American cast and was the first feature film released with a complete Comanche language dub.

Following her breakthrough in Prey, Midthunder continued working on feature film projects. In 2025, she co-starred in the action-comedy film Novocaine as well as the thriller Opus.
