Adriana Ugarte

Adriana Sofía Ugarte Pardal is a Spanish actress who gained widespread recognition for her leading television roles and film performances. She is particularly known for her starring roles in the television series La Señora and El tiempo entre costuras, as well as her role in the 2016 Pedro Almodóvar film Julieta, in which she played the younger version of the title character.

Born in Madrid on 17 January 1985, Ugarte is the daughter of Yolanda Pardal, a lawyer and writer. She is also the grandniece of Eduardo Ugarte, a collaborator of Luis Buñuel who was married to a daughter of Carlos Arniches. She attended the Colegio del Pilar in Madrid. Ugarte later enrolled in a licentiate degree in Philosophy and Arts at the Complutense University of Madrid, a program she temporarily put on hold before resuming her studies at the National University of Distance Education.

Ugarte began her acting career at age 16 when she debuted in the 2001 short film Mala Espina, directed by Belén Macías. Her portrayal of a schizophrenic teenage girl in the short earned her the award for Best Female Performance at the Alcalá de Henares Festival of Short Films. Following her debut, she secured guest roles in several television series, including Policías, en el corazón de la calle, Hospital Central, and El comisario.

Her feature film career gained momentum with her role as Consuelo in the 2006 film Doghead, directed by Santi Amodeo, which earned her a nomination for the Goya Award for Best New Actress. Ugarte's popularity grew significantly when she starred as Victoria Márquez de la Vega in the television series La Señora, which aired from 2008 to 2010.

Throughout the late 2000s and early 2010s, Ugarte appeared in a variety of film and television projects. She appeared in the film The Hanged Man alongside Clara Lago and Álvaro Cervantes, starred in Paper Castles (2009) with Nilo Mur and Biel Durán, and featured in Lo contrario al amor (2010) alongside Hugo Silva. Additionally, she played the character Susana in the Telecinco miniseries Stolen Children.

In 2013, Ugarte starred as Sira in the television adaptation of María Dueñas's novel El tiempo entre costuras (The Time in Between). Premiering two years after filming concluded, the series achieved record-breaking viewing figures on Antena 3 by its conclusion. In 2016, she co-starred in Pedro Almodóvar's film Julieta.
