Terry Farrell

Theresa "Terry" Farrell is an American fashion model and actress born on November 19, 1963. She is best known for portraying Jadzia Dax on the science fiction television series Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and playing Regina "Reggie" Kostas on the comedy series Becker.

Farrell was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She began her professional career in modeling and subsequently studied acting while continuing to work as a model. Her initial major acting roles arrived in 1984 with the short-lived television series Paper Dolls, in which she portrayed a model, and her feature film debut in Back to School, playing the love interest of Keith Gordon's character. In 1986, she appeared in an episode of the anthology series The Twilight Zone.

In 1989, Farrell deepened her training by studying acting with Stella Adler. During this period, she secured several television guest-starring roles, appearing on series such as Quantum Leap and The Cosby Show. In 1992, she played the character Cat in a second pilot for an American adaptation of the British comedy series Red Dwarf, though the project was not picked up.

Following the Red Dwarf project, Farrell was cast in a lead role on the television series Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, which premiered in January 1993. She portrayed Jadzia Dax, the space station's Starfleet science officer. Her character was a Trill, an alien species serving as host to a 300-year-old symbiont, allowing her to draw upon the knowledge and memories of seven previous hosts. Farrell remained with the series through the end of its sixth season.

Farrell's next regular role was on Paramount's television comedy series Becker, playing local business owner Regina "Reggie" Kostas as a foil and love interest to Ted Danson's character, John Becker. She appeared on the series for four years across 94 episodes. Her character was written out before the fifth season following the fourth season's cliffhanger finale, a dismissal that Farrell stated surprised her.

Additionally, Farrell voiced the character Six of One in the animated short film Tripping the Rift during an episode of the Sci-Fi Channel short film series Exposure, which she also guest-hosted. In 2015, she appeared in the web-released fan film Star Trek: Renegades.

Farrell largely retired from acting in 2002 to focus on her family following her marriage to actor Brian Baker. The couple resided in Hershey, Pennsylvania, with their son, and performed together in a local production of A.R. Gurney's play Love Letters at the Hershey Area Playhouse. Outside of acting, she enjoys yoga and sewing. Farrell and Baker divorced in December 2015.

In August 2015, Farrell began a relationship with Adam Nimoy, the son of Star Trek actor Leonard Nimoy. After confirming their engagement, they married in San Francisco on March 26, 2018, before later divorcing. In recognition of her work, astronomer William Kwong Yu Yeung honored Farrell in 2001 by naming the small Solar System body asteroid 26734 Terryfarrell after her alongside her co-star Nana Visitor.
