Sasha Pivovarova

Aleksandra "Sasha" Igorevna Pivovarova, born on 21 January 1985 in Moscow, is a Russian fashion model and artist. She is best known as the longest-appearing model for Prada, setting a record for the brand by posing for 19 advertisement campaigns. Over the course of her career, Pivovarova has appeared on the cover of Vogue 62 times and was part of the original "Wide eyed doll era" in the late 2000s.

Pivovarova originally studied art history at the Russian State University for the Humanities. She had not planned on becoming a model until her friend and future husband, photographer Igor Vishnyakov, took photos of her in 2005 and submitted them to the international modeling agency IMG. Her modeling career quickly gained momentum later that year after she caught the attention of Miuccia Prada and opened the Prada Fall/Winter 2005 show. In the same year, she appeared on the April cover of Vogue Italia photographed by Steven Meisel and walked 69 shows during the Fall/Winter 2005 season.

Following her breakthrough, Pivovarova served as the face of Prada for six consecutive seasons and appeared in advertisement campaigns for numerous major fashion and beauty brands, including Chanel, Balenciaga, Dior Beauty, Yves Saint Laurent, Chloé, Giorgio Armani, Hugo Boss, and Michael Kors. In May 2007, she was featured on the cover of American Vogue as one of the "World's Next Top Models." Over the following years, she opened and closed high-profile runway shows in Paris, Milan, and New York for brands such as Chanel couture, Jean Paul Gaultier couture, Rag & Bone, Rodarte, Christian Dior, Valentino, and MaxMara.

Throughout her career, Pivovarova achieved significant industry recognition. In November 2008, Spain's Marie Claire awarded her the "Prix International Best Model" at the Prix de la Moda. By early 2009, she was ranked second on Models.com's Top 50 Models Women list, later being placed on its "Industry Icons" list in 2013, while Vogue Paris named her one of the top 30 models of the decade. Expanding her creative work beyond fashion modeling, Pivovarova made her acting debut in the 2011 science fiction thriller film In Time, playing the character Clara opposite Justin Timberlake and Amanda Seyfried.

Alongside her modeling work, Pivovarova maintains an active career as an artist. Her paintings and drawings were displayed in Paris in March 2007 and in New York City in 2008, with her artwork featured in Vogue, Vogue Paris, and Teen Vogue. Designers Miuccia Prada and Karl Lagerfeld commissioned her to create illustrated books, and in December 2011, she launched a fairy-tale-inspired sleepwear collection for Gap.

Pivovarova currently resides in New York, where her home doubles as an art studio. She is married to Igor Vishnyakov, with whom she had a wedding in Thailand that was recreated for a photo shoot in the June 2009 issue of American Vogue. The couple has two daughters.
