Born on May 29, 1991, in Tokyo, Japan, Hayami grew up as an only child. Her interest in voice acting developed during her elementary school years. To pursue this passion, she enrolled in the junior program at the voice acting school Nihon Narration Engi Kenkyūjo in 2004. During her second year at the institution in 2006, she successfully passed an audition for I'm Enterprise.
Hayami made her official debut in the voice acting industry through the drama CD Indian Summer. In 2007, she entered anime voice acting, securing her premier lead performance as Momoka Kawakabe in the series Touka Gettan. Beyond screen animation, Hayami established a long-running radio presence in 2011 by launching her program, Hayami Saori no Free Style.
Over the course of her performance career, Hayami has voiced a wide variety of characters. Her recognizable performances include Yor Forger in Spy × Family, Yumeko Jabami in Kakegurui, Yukino Yukinoshita in My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU, Shōko Nishimiya in A Silent Voice, Shinobu Kocho in Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, Yuzuki Shiraishi in A Place Further than the Universe, and Chizuru "Chuu-tan" Nakamura in Heroines Run the Show.
In addition to voice acting, Hayami is a musical artist known for delivering character tracks and anime themes, such as her musical contributions as Kaede Takagaki in The Idolmaster Cinderella Girls series. She launched her solo singing career on August 12, 2015, with the single "Yasashii Kibou," serving as lyricist for the release. The title track was selected as the opening theme for Snow White with the Red Hair, a series in which she voiced the protagonist, Shirayuki. In February 2015, she released the dual A-side single "Installation/Sono Koe ga Chizu ni Naru," contributing to both songwriting and composition; the latter track served as the opening theme for the second season of Snow White with the Red Hair. She subsequently issued her debut studio album, Live Love Laugh, in May 2016, followed by a live mini-album in December 2016 featuring media from her premier Japanese concert tour.
Hayami attended Waseda University, studying within the School of Human Sciences. She has earned multiple industry honors, including Best Supporting Actress at the 10th Seiyu Awards. She took second place for Best Voice Actress at the 2015 Newtype x Machi Asobi Anime Awards, where her character Yukino Yukinoshita won Best Female Character. Additionally, her broadcast show earned the Best Comfort Radio award in the general category at the 3rd Aniradi Awards in 2017.
