Rick Kavanian

Richard Horatio Kavanian, born on January 26, 1971, is a German actor, comedian, author, and voice actor. He is widely recognized for his frequent artistic collaboration with Michael Herbig. This partnership resulted in numerous popular film comedies and parodies, including the notable movie Manitou's Shoe.

Kavanian grew up in Munich, Germany, raised by his Armenian parents, who had emigrated from Bucharest during the 1950s, alongside his grandmother. Developing a multilingual background as a child, he learned Romanian from his parents, Armenian from his grandmother, and acquired German and English through his formal education in school.

Between 1990 and 1994, Kavanian pursued higher education in Germany, studying political science, North American history, and psychology across Munich and Augsburg. His professional association with Michael Herbig began in 1990 while both were working as authors and speakers for a German comedy radio broadcast. In 1995, he relocated to New York City to study acting at the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute.

Upon returning to Germany, Kavanian performed in several roles alongside Herbig on the television comedy program Easy Bully. This series eventually served as the foundation for the successful television comedy show Bullyparade. Following this breakthrough, Kavanian expanded his career by starring in various comedy feature films, making numerous television appearances, and establishing a successful practice as a stand-up comedian.

Outside of his performing career, Kavanian resides in Munich with his wife, Ilka. He cites the British actor Peter Sellers as his personal idol.
