Oliver Pocher

Oliver Pocher is a German comedian, entertainer, television personality, and host born on 18 February 1978. He is best known for hosting numerous television programs, presenting late-night comedy formats across German networks, and releasing sports-themed music singles.

Pocher was born and grew up in Hanover, West Germany, as the son of Gerhard and Jutta Pocher. He was raised as a Jehovah's Witness, though he stated in 2007 that he no longer maintained contact with the organization. Reports that he attended a Waldorf school were denied by his management. Pocher completed professional training as an insurance broker at Signal Iduna Bauspar AG and later worked for SwissLife and HDI Lebensversicherung AG. During his training, he worked part-time jobs at radio stations, performed as a DJ, joined the comedy group Holla-Bolla, and appeared as an entertainer on the talk show Birte Karalus.

Pocher made his television debut on 28 October 1998 on Bärbel Schäfer's chat show. By September 1999, he was presenting shows such as Chart Surfer Trash Top 100, Was geht ab, and Planet Viva, followed by his own program Alles Pocher, ... oder was? in 2002. He achieved broader recognition presenting Rent a Pocher on ProSieben between January 2003 and April 2006.

From October 2007 to April 2009, Pocher co-hosted Schmidt und Pocher alongside Harald Schmidt on Das Erste. He subsequently moved to Sat.1 to present Die Oliver Pocher Show, which aired until March 2011. In addition to television presenting, Pocher released music singles linked to major football tournaments, including "Schwarz und Weiß" for the 2006 FIFA World Cup and "Bringt ihn heim" for the 2008 European Football Championship.

In later years, Pocher hosted Pocher – gefährlich ehrlich! from 2020 to 2021 and began presenting the follow-up format to 5 gegen Jauch in 2022. He appeared on ProSieben's Die Unschlagbaren – Wer besiegt die Stars? in April 2023, and in February 2024 RTLzwei announced he would host the programs Ein Haus voller Geld and Dinge gibt's.

Pocher was married to Alessandra Meyer-Wölden from 2010 to 2014, with whom he shares three children, and later dated tennis player Sabine Lisicki until 2016. He married make-up artist Amira Aly in 2019, with whom he has two sons. The couple announced their separation in August 2023 and finalized their divorce in July 2024.

Throughout his career, Pocher has drawn public criticism and legal action for jokes targeting individuals. A comment directed at an audience member on Wetten, dass..? in 2005 resulted in a €6,000 fine from a Hanover court, followed by a second suit after he repeated the comments on Johannes B. Kerner in 2008. He also generated controversy for insulting Mariah Carey on Gottschalk & Friends in 2005, facing a lawsuit from singer Sarah Connor, prompting a broadcasting commission review for a 2009 television spoof, and making offensive remarks at the 2014 Vienna Opera Ball.
