About Mario Barth
Mario Wolfgang Barth, born on 1 November 1972, is a German comedian whose work primarily focuses on the interactions and relationships between men and women.
Barth was raised Catholic as one of six children in Berlin-Mariendorf. During his youth, he served as an altar boy and attended a private Catholic school. Following his school education, he completed an apprenticeship as a telecommunications electrician at Siemens in Berlin. In 1995, he began studying to become an actor.
Barth developed his comedic background by attending comedy workshops, such as the Comedy School in Cologne, where he met fellow performers including Diether Krebs, Anka Zink, and Thomas Hermanns. He built early experience appearing on television programs such as NightWash and Quatsch Comedy Club. Beginning in early 2001, he toured with his stage show Männer sind Schweine, Frauen aber auch!, which brought his career breakthrough in 2003. That same year, he developed his comedy-question show Keine Ahnung?, which aired a second season in 2005.
In 2004, Barth published Deutsch-Frau, Frau-Deutsch, a dictionary designed for men to understand women. It sold out within days, reached two million copies sold, and was distributed internationally in South Korea, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, Japan, and Poland. Around this period, he made guest appearances on Schillerstraße in roles such as a heating engineer, exterminator, master potter, and funeral director. He was also involved in the RTL show Typisch Frau – Typisch Mann from its inception.
Barth published his live DVD Männer sind Schweine, Frauen aber auch! in October 2005, recorded in Berlin. It reached number three on the German Album Charts and earned platinum status for selling over two million copies. In February 2006, he debuted his show Männer sind primitiv, aber glücklich!, which won the German Comedy Award for best live comedy. RTL subsequently broadcast his travel show Mario sucht das Paradies aus in late 2006, featuring trips to Dubai, Texas, Dallas, and Hollywood alongside Ralf Moeller. In November 2007, RTL began showing the ten-part series Mario Barth präsentiert.
In July 2008, Barth set a world record for performing live comedy to the largest audience by appearing before 70,000 people at Olympic Stadium in Berlin. In connection with the event, he released the single Mensch Berlin, recorded with Paul Kuhn, and later released the performance DVD Die Weltrekord-Show: Männer sind primitiv aber glücklich!. At the end of 2008, he was named the most embarrassing man of Berlin by the journal Tip. Barth broke his live audience record in 2014 with 116,498 attendees, observed by a Guinness World Records judge. He also established a world record for the longest DVD ending, running 40 minutes and 38 seconds.
In 2009, Barth produced his first feature comedy film, Männersache, alongside an audiobook release. He debuted his stage show Männer sind peinlich, Frauen manchmal auch! in May 2009, followed by a live CD release that September. Since 2009, he has hosted the RTL comedy show Willkommen bei Mario Barth.
