Pabllo Vittar

Pabllo Vittar, born Phabullo Rodrigues da Silva on November 1, 1993, in São Luís, Maranhão, is a Brazilian drag queen and singer. Raised alongside a fraternal twin and an older sister by his mother, a nurse, he spent parts of his youth in Santa Inês and Caxias. During his childhood, he faced financial hardship, experienced bullying, attended ballet classes, and sang in a local Catholic church choir before starting to write his own songs. At age 15, he came out as gay to his mother. He later moved to Indaiatuba and subsequently to Uberlândia, where he worked in snack bars and beauty salons. He first did drag at age 17 to hand out nightclub pamphlets, later entering drag beauty contests, performing at local venues, and initially adopting the stage name Pabllo Knowles.

Vittar's career gained momentum after he enrolled at the Federal University of Uberlândia in 2013 to study design. He eventually dropped out to pursue music full-time as his show schedule grew, bolstered by internet music videos and his role performing in the band for the television program Amor & Sexo. He adopted the professional name Pabllo Vittar and made his first television singing appearance in 2014 performing a Whitney Houston cover. Breakthrough success arrived in 2015 with his music video "Open Bar," a Portuguese-language adaptation of Major Lazer's "Lean On," followed by an extended play of the same name.

Vittar released his debut studio album, Vai Passar Mal, which blends pop with electronic music and Brazilian genres such as tecno brega, arrocha, funk carioca, and forró. His second album, Não Para Não, similarly combines domestic and international musical styles. Known as a countertenor, his vocal range spans from E♭3 to G♯5. His musical style and visual presentation draw from a wide variety of influences, including RuPaul, Beyoncé, Aretha Franklin, Donna Summer, Whitney Houston, Tina Turner, Brazilian artists such as Gilberto Gil and Elis Regina, and model Bella Hadid. His lyrics frequently explore themes of love, self-confidence, and partying.

Throughout his career, Vittar has achieved international recognition and collaborated with several global pop acts. He featured alongside Anitta on Major Lazer's 2017 track "Sua Cara," appeared on Charli XCX's "I Got It," and collaborated again with XCX on "Flash Pose" from his album 111, performing the song at the 2019 MTV Europe Music Awards. In 2024, Vittar collaborated with Sevdaliza and Yseult on the single "Alibi," marking his first entry on the Billboard Hot 100. He featured in a 2020 Calvin Klein Pride campaign, appeared on the telenovela A Força do Querer, and performed on Copacabana Beach alongside Madonna in 2024 and as a DJ opening act for Lady Gaga in 2025.
