Natasha Bedingfield

Natasha Anne Bedingfield (born 26 November 1981) is a British-New Zealand singer and songwriter. She achieved international recognition with her 2004 debut studio album, Unwritten, and has sold more than 20 million records worldwide, including over 10 million albums and 10 million singles. In 2012, VH1 ranked her at number 66 on its list of the 100 Greatest Women in Music.

Bedingfield was born in London, England, to New Zealand parents, growing up in both London and Auckland. During her teenage years, she formed the electronic and dance group The DNA Algorithm with her siblings Daniel and Nikola, providing vocals that explored themes of empowerment and independence. After attending the University of Greenwich for a year to study psychology, she left to focus on a music career, recording demos in friends' garage studios and creating material for Hillsong Church UK in the early 2000s.

She signed with BMG UK & Ireland under Phonogenic Records in July 2003. Her debut studio album, Unwritten, was released in September 2004 and debuted at number one on the UK Albums Chart. Incorporating pop-rock and R&B influences, the album sold over 2.3 million copies globally and yielded four singles: "Single", "These Words"—which became her first UK number one—the title track "Unwritten", and "I Bruise Easily". Her early work earned her multiple nominations at the Brit Awards and a Grammy Award nomination for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance.

In April 2007, Bedingfield released her second studio album, N.B., in Europe, yielding the UK top-ten singles "I Wanna Have Your Babies" and "Soulmate". A reworked version of the record was released in North America in January 2008 as Pocketful of Sunshine; its title track reached number five on the US Billboard Hot 100, becoming her best-selling single in the United States. She followed with her third album, Strip Me, in December 2010, which was released in Europe as Strip Me Away in 2011.

Beyond her early albums, Bedingfield released her fourth studio album, Roll with Me, in August 2019. Outside of recording, she voiced a character in the 2005 video game James Bond: From Russia with Love and appeared in television series including Degrassi: The Next Generation, Lipstick Jungle, and Web Therapy. She has also engaged in philanthropic endeavors as an ambassador for Global Angels, an advocate for Stop the Traffik, and a member of the (RED) campaign.

In 2023, "Unwritten" experienced a resurgence in popularity after being featured in the film Anyone But You. In April 2024, she collaborated on the song "Alibi" with Ella Henderson and Rudimental, followed by a performance for British athletes at the Paris Olympics in August 2024. In May 2025, she performed at Turf Moor following Burnley F.C.'s final match of the season, and she released the single "Dot Dot Dot" on 14 August 2026.
