Namrata Purohit

Namrata Purohit is an Indian fitness professional and instructor best known for her work in Pilates. Born in Mumbai, India, she is the daughter of Samir Purohit, a celebrity fitness expert and co-founder of The Pilates Studio. She attended Jai Hind College, where she earned a Major in economics, and later completed a Master’s of Science in Sports Management at Loughborough University. During her youth, she competed as a national-level squash player and a state-level football player. At age 16, a horse-riding accident resulted in a knee surgery that ended her competitive squash career.

Following her surgery, Purohit began practicing Pilates on her father's advice. She pursued formal education in the discipline through courses from Lindsay G. Merrithew, ultimately becoming the youngest certified Stott Pilates instructor in the world. In addition to her Pilates training, she is also a certified Barre instructor.

Purohit co-founded The Pilates Studio alongside her father. The establishment became the first Pilates studio to feature both Pilates facilities and a simulated altitude training room. Beyond studio instruction, she authored the book The Lazy Girl's Guide to Being Fit, which was published by Penguin Random House.

Throughout her career, Purohit has provided fitness training to numerous high-profile figures, including Kangana Ranaut, Jacqueline Fernandez, Varun Dhawan, Arjun Kapoor, Aditya Roy Kapur, Nargis Fakhri, Neha Dhupia, Lauren Gottlieb, Shibani Dandekar, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Elli Avram, Bruna Abdullah, and Malaika Arora.

She has also served in official training roles for various organizations and sports teams. Purohit became the official fitness partner to the Femina Miss India Organization starting in 2011, and served in the same capacity for Miss Diva in 2013 and 2014. Additionally, she and her father served as the official Pilates coaches for the Mumbai City FC team in 2014.
