Nadine Coyle

Nadine Elizabeth Louise Coyle is an Irish singer-songwriter, producer, and model born on 15 June 1985 in Derry, Northern Ireland. She is best known as a member of the pop girl group Girls Aloud, which was formed in 2002 through the ITV reality competition show Popstars: The Rivals. During her time with the group, she achieved widespread commercial success, including twenty consecutive UK top ten singles, four number-one singles, and multiple certified platinum albums.

Coyle grew up in Derry with her parents, Lillian and Niall Coyle, who first noted her talent for singing when she was two years old. While attending Thornhill College in 2001, she auditioned for the Irish version of the talent show Popstars and earned a place in the band Six. However, she was required to leave after it was revealed that she was sixteen years old, two years below the minimum age requirement of eighteen.

In 2002, Coyle entered Popstars: The Rivals. Following a public vote on 30 November 2002, she was selected to join Cheryl Tweedy, Sarah Harding, Nicola Roberts, and Kimberley Walsh in Girls Aloud. Their debut single, "Sound of the Underground," reached number one on the UK Singles Chart and became the 2002 Christmas number one. Girls Aloud achieved numerous chart successes, including winning the 2009 BRIT Award for Best Single with "The Promise." The group took a hiatus in 2009, reunited in 2012 for a tenth-anniversary tour, officially disbanded in 2013, and later re-formed for an arena tour in 2024.

Alongside her work with Girls Aloud, Coyle established a solo music career. In 2010, she launched her own record label, Black Pen Records, in partnership with Tesco, releasing her debut solo album, Insatiable, and its title track. She later signed with Virgin EMI Records in 2017, releasing the single "Go to Work," followed by her debut extended play, Nadine, in 2018. She continued to release music in subsequent years, including the singles "Fool for Love" in 2019, "All That I Know" in 2020, and cover versions of "Zombie" in 2022 and "Chasing Cars" in 2023.

Beyond her musical releases, Coyle has engaged in television, publishing, and business ventures. She co-authored the autobiography Dreams that Glitter - Our Story with her bandmates in 2008 and appeared in various television documentaries. In 2012, she served as a guest judge on America's Next Top Model, and in 2019, she competed in the nineteenth series of I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here!, finishing in fifth place. Additionally, she ran an Irish pub restaurant, Nadine's Irish Mist, in Sunset Beach, California, between 2008 and 2015. She shares a daughter, Anaíya, born in 2014, with Jason Bell.
