Luca Hänni

Luca Hänni, born 8 October 1994 in Bern, Switzerland, is a Swiss singer and television personality. He rose to prominence in 2012 after winning the ninth season of the RTL singing talent show Deutschland sucht den Superstar, becoming the first non-German and youngest winner in the show's history. His debut single, Don't Think About Me, reached number one in Austria, Germany, and Switzerland, launching his professional career in music.

During kindergarten, Hänni received drumming lessons and taught himself to play the guitar and piano at nine years old. After completing his schooling, he began training as a bricklayer. In 2012, two years into his vocational apprenticeship, he discontinued his training to focus entirely on his music career.

Following his television victory, Hänni released his debut studio album, My Name Is Luca, in May 2012. Primarily produced by Dieter Bohlen, the album debuted at number one on the Swiss and Austrian Albums Charts and earned gold certifications in both countries. In June 2012, Swiss retailer Migros engaged Hänni as a testimonial and model for the men's underwear collection Nick Tyler by Luca. He followed this success with his second studio album, Living the Dream, released in 2013, which marked his second consecutive number-one album in Switzerland.

After parting ways with his initial management, Hänni collaborated with Swiss DJ Christopher S on the 2014 dance-pop album Dance Until We Die, which reached number six in Switzerland before promotion ceased due to a financial dispute. Seeking greater creative control, Hänni spent time in Los Angeles recording his fourth album, When We Wake Up (2015), shifting his sound toward R&B and electronic music. Beyond his studio recordings, he won the SRF musical talent competition Kampf der Orchester in 2014, established his fashion label SVSL in 2016, and won the RTL competitive dancing show Dance Dance Dance in 2017 alongside partner Prince Damien.

In 2019, Hänni represented Switzerland at the Eurovision Song Contest in Tel Aviv with the song She Got Me. He finished in fourth place in the final, achieving Switzerland's highest result in the contest since 1993 and earning his second Swiss number-one single. The following year, Hänni was named Best Male Act at the 13th Swiss Music Awards, finished third on the German series Let's Dance, and released his fifth studio album, 110 Karat, preceded by the single Diamant.

Alongside his mainstream work, Hänni supported blood cancer charity DKMS by writing the 2014 single Only One You, and joined several Swiss artists on the platinum-certified Migros charity song Ensemble. In 2020, he began a relationship with his Let's Dance partner Christina Luft. The couple married in August 2023 and welcomed their first child, a daughter, in June 2024.
