Lizzy McAlpine

Elizabeth Catherine McAlpine, born September 21, 1999, is an American singer-songwriter, record producer, and actress. Raised in Narberth, Pennsylvania, in the suburbs of Philadelphia, she first gained recognition by sharing original songs and music covers online across platforms including SoundCloud, YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok. Her musical sound encompasses indie pop, folk, and bedroom pop, combining elements of jazz, pop, and R&B.

McAlpine grew up with her parents, Mark McAlpine and Robin Lacey, and her sister, Emma. She began writing music in the sixth grade and attended Lower Merion High School, where she participated in theater and sang in a co-ed a cappella group. She later studied songwriting at Berklee College of Music in Boston before leaving during her junior year to pursue her music career full-time. In April 2020, she organized the Instagram #BerkleeAtHome streaming concert series. Following her father's death in March 2020, she committed to dedicating the thirteenth track of each of her albums to his memory.

After releasing her debut EP, Indigo, on SoundCloud in 2018, McAlpine wrote her debut studio album, Give Me a Minute, while studying abroad in Spain in late 2019. Released in August 2020, the folk-focused album received critical acclaim, accumulated millions of digital streams, and was listed among the best albums of 2020 by the Dallas Observer. She followed this project with an eight-song live EP in April 2021 and made her late-night television debut performing "Erase Me" on Jimmy Kimmel Live! in November 2021.

McAlpine achieved major commercial recognition with her second studio album, Five Seconds Flat, released on April 8, 2022. The record reached number five on the US Billboard Heatseekers chart, while its TikTok-viral single "Ceilings" garnered over 230 million streams and peaked at number 54 on the Billboard Hot 100, marking her first appearances on both the Billboard Hot 100 and Billboard 200 charts. She subsequently launched a headline tour and performed a set for NPR Music's Tiny Desk Concert, which was ranked among the top ten Tiny Desk Concerts of 2022 by listeners.

In 2023, McAlpine signed with RCA Records and featured on duets with Noah Kahan and Niall Horan. She released her third studio album, Older, in April 2024, which she supported with the Older Tour across North America and Europe. In October 2024, she released a deluxe edition of the album, titled Older (and Wiser), featuring five unreleased tracks.

McAlpine expanded into acting with her Broadway debut as Nellie Collins in Floyd Collins opposite Jeremy Jordan in 2025, followed by a concert performance in Sweet Smell of Success at Lincoln Center. She made her television acting debut in the series School Spirits and was cast in the film Only What We Carry. In 2026, she announced her fourth studio album, Angel, preceded by the singles "The Light in the Painting" and "Ugly Things."
