Laura Enever

Laura Enever is an Australian professional surfer, big wave rider, and media personality who achieved international prominence through her competitive surf achievements and record-breaking ocean feats. Born in Sydney, Australia, she spent seven years competing on the World Surf League (WSL) Women's Championship Tour, establishing herself among the top female surfers in the world before transitioning into professional big wave surfing and broadcast commentary.

Early Life and Competitive Career

Enever grew up in North Narrabeen, a famed surfing community on Sydney's Northern Beaches. She began surfing as a child after an early background in gymnastics. Developing her skills on local waves, she quickly rose through the junior ranks, capturing the ISA Junior World Championship in 2008 and winning the ASP Women's World Junior Championship in 2009. She qualified for the elite ASP/WSL Women's Championship Tour in 2011. Over seven consecutive seasons on the world tour, Enever was a consistent top-10 finisher globally, securing key victories including the 2015 Hurley Australian Open of Surfing in Manly.

Big Wave Surfing and World Record

After stepping away from full-time Championship Tour competition, Enever focused her athletic career on big wave surfing, challenging heavy reef breaks across Hawaii, Fiji, and Australia. In 2020, she released the documentary film Undone, which chronicled her transition from tour competition to chasing hazardous ocean swells. On January 22, 2023, Enever etched her name into surf history at an outer reef on Oahu's North Shore in Hawaii. She paddled into a massive 43.6-foot wave, setting the Guinness World Record for the largest paddle-in wave ever surfed by a woman. This feat earned her widespread acclaim, including being named Big Wave Surfer of the Year in 2024 and receiving an invitation to the prestigious Eddie Aikau Big Wave Invitational.

Media and Brand Ventures

Beyond her competitive and big wave surfing accomplishments, Enever has built a prominent media presence as a WSL broadcast commentator, podcast host, and public speaker.
