Jessie Reyez

Jessica Reyez is a Canadian singer-songwriter born on June 12, 1991. She is best known for her 2016 single "Figures," her debut studio album Before Love Came to Kill Us, and her songwriting work for major artists. Throughout her career, she has earned multiple Juno Awards, a Grammy Award nomination, and commercial success across multiple extended plays and studio albums.

Reyez was born in Toronto, Ontario, to Colombian parents. Introduced to the guitar by her father as a child, she began writing her own music while attending St. Thomas Aquinas CSS in Brampton. Following high school graduation, she chose to pursue music while working odd jobs. After moving to Florida in 2012 to bartend and busk on the beach, she returned to Toronto in 2014 upon acceptance into The Remix Project's Academy of Recording Arts, where she was mentored by Daniel Daley of Dvsn.

In 2014, Reyez released her first joint single, "Living in the Sky," with King Louie. She released "It Hurts (Selena)" in 2015 and "Shutter Island" in 2017 before touring Europe as an opening act for PartyNextDoor. Her breakout single, "Figures," debuted on Beats 1 radio, peaked at number 58 on the Canadian Hot 100, and achieved triple platinum status from Music Canada. In April 2017, she released her debut extended play, Kiddo, alongside her short film Gatekeeper. Kiddo peaked at number 83 on the Canadian Album Chart and earned Reyez the Breakthrough Artist award at the 2018 Juno Awards.

Reyez released her second EP, Being Human in Public, in 2018 following a collaboration with Lewis Capaldi on the single "Rush." The EP won R&B/Soul Recording of the Year at the 2019 Juno Awards and received a nomination for Best Urban Contemporary Album at the 2020 Grammy Awards. Alongside her own music, she wrote songs for Calvin Harris, Kehlani, Dua Lipa, and Normani—notably penning the hit "One Kiss"—and collaborated with Eminem on "Nice Guy" and "Good Guy." In 2019, she released the gold-certified single "Imported" featuring 6lack and co-wrote and performed on "Scar" for The Lion King: The Gift.

On March 27, 2020, Reyez released her debut studio album, Before Love Came to Kill Us, which debuted at number 13 on the US Billboard 200. She won another Juno Award in 2020 for R&B/Soul Recording of the Year for her single "Feel It Too" with Tory Lanez and Tainy. Reyez opened for Billie Eilish on her Where Do We Go? world tour, featured in Beyoncé's musical film Black Is King, and won Video of the Year for "No One's in the Room" at the 2021 Juno Awards.

Reyez continued releasing full-length projects with her second studio album, Yessie, on September 16, 2022, which included a collaboration with 6lack. She released her third album, Paid In Memories, on March 28, 2025, accompanied by a tour across Canada and the United States. On June 12, 2026, Reyez released her fourth album, A Little Vengeance, and performed the song "Illuminate" with Elyanna at the Canadian opening ceremony of the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Toronto.
