About Jamie Brewer

Jamie Brewer, born in 1984 or 1985, is an American actress and model. She is best known for her recurring roles across multiple seasons of the FX horror anthology television series American Horror Story. In addition to her acting work, Brewer gained public recognition in 2015 when she became the first woman with Down syndrome to walk the red carpet at New York Fashion Week.

Brewer grew up with a passion for the arts, particularly movies and stage productions. She began her formal training in 1999 by taking theater classes through a College for Kids program during her middle school years. She further developed her skill set at Dionysus Theater, performing in dramas, musicals, comedies, and improvisational productions. During this period, she also appeared and spoke in public service announcements for the Super Bowl of Caring Houston Food Drive in Houston, Texas, which broadcast on NBC, ABC, and CBS for two consecutive years. She later continued her stage training through The Groundlings Theater and School.

In 2011, Brewer made her television debut after being cast as Adelaide "Addie" Langdon in American Horror Story: Murder House. After submitting her headshot and resume for a role seeking a young actress with Down syndrome, she successfully auditioned and joined the main cast. She returned to the franchise in 2013 for its third season, Coven, playing the clairvoyant witch Nan. Brewer continued her involvement with the anthology series, playing Chester Creb's vision of his doll Marjorie in Freak Show, portraying SCUM crew member Hedda in Cult, and reprising Nan in Apocalypse. In 2021, she returned as Adelaide Langdon in the spin-off series American Horror Stories.

Outside of American Horror Story, Brewer expanded her screen credits across television, film, and web projects. She appeared in a 2013 episode of Southland, three episodes of the web series Raymond & Lane in 2015, and an episode of Switched at Birth the same year. In May 2017, she starred in the comedy short Whitney's Wedding, and she was later cast as Gina in the independent drama film Turnover.

In February 2015, Brewer walked the red carpet at New York Fashion Week for designer Carrie Hammer, marking a milestone for women with disabilities in the fashion industry. Later that year, she received the Quincy Jones Exceptional Advocacy Award from the Global Down Syndrome Foundation. In October 2017, singer Miley Cyrus selected Brewer to introduce her at the Variety Power of Women event.

Brewer achieved significant success in theater when she made her off-Broadway debut in February 2018 starring in Lindsey Ferrentino's play Amy and the Orphans. She was the first woman with Down syndrome to star in an Off-Broadway production. For her stage performance, she was nominated for an Outer Critics Circle Award and won the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Featured Actress in a Play in June 2018.
