Jam Hsiao

Jam Hsiao Ching-teng is a Taiwanese vocalist and actor born on March 30, 1987. His musical path began during his high school years when he worked as a restaurant performer at age seventeen. In May 2007, he gained widespread public attention after participating in the first season of the Taiwanese talent search show One Million Star. Appearing as a challenger in competitive singing matches, his performances drove the show to record viewership ratings and established his profile in the local entertainment industry.

Following his television exposure, Hsiao collaborated with pop artist A-Mei on a duet in 2007 and performed at the Golden Horse Award ceremony. He signed a four-year recording contract with Warner Music Taiwan in March 2008. His self-titled debut studio album was released in June 2008 and topped music charts across Taiwan, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Malaysia. During the same period, he made a guest appearance in the television drama Fated To Love You and published a travel book following a trip to Italy.

Hsiao released his second studio album, Princess, and a cover album titled Love Moments in 2009. That same year, he launched his first major concert series, the Mr. Rock Concert Tour, which originated at the Taipei Arena before traveling to multiple international cities. In June 2011, he released his fourth studio record, Jam Wild Dreams, taking on the role of overall album producer for the first time. Earlier that year, he performed on the CCTV New Year's Gala in China despite suffering from severe illness, a gesture that earned him significant public praise.

Hsiao expanded his repertoire in 2012 by releasing an English-language cover album, Mr. Jazz: A Song For You, followed by his Mandarin release It's All About Love. The latter project earned him the Best Male Vocalist award at the 24th Golden Melody Awards in 2013. He subsequently served as a mentor on two seasons of the Beijing Television singing competition show Duets starting in 2013, and released his sixth studio album, The Song, in 2014 while acting as a World Cup ambassador in Taiwan.

In addition to his music career, Hsiao developed an acting profile. He starred as the lead character in the 2011 action film The Killer Who Never Kills, which earned him the Best New Performer honor at the 31st Hong Kong Film Awards. He later played the primary role in the 2014 romantic comedy feature My Geeky Nerdy Buddies.

In September 2016, Hsiao formed the four-member rock group Lion, serving as its lead singer, songwriter, and keyboardist. The group competed on the reality show Singer 2017, securing a third-place finish. Hsiao returned to the competition as a solo contestant on Singer 2020, where he again finished in third place while also co-hosting initial episodes. In June 2023, he announced his engagement to his manager Summer Lin after sixteen years of dating, and the couple married in October of that year.
