Jaime Lorente

Jaime Lorente is a Spanish actor who reached international fame as Daniel “Denver” Ramos in the global Netflix phenomenon “Money Heist” (“La Casa de Papel”). Born Jaime Lorente López on 12 December 1991 in Murcia, in south-eastern Spain, he studied dramatic art at the Superior School of Dramatic Art (ESAD) of Murcia and later completed a master’s degree at the International University of La Rioja.

He made his television debut in 2016 in the long-running Spanish period drama “El secreto de Puente Viejo.” The following year he was cast as Denver in “Money Heist,” the impulsive but fiercely loyal gang member whose distinctive laugh became one of the show’s signatures. The role, which he played from 2017 to 2021, earned him a nomination from the Spanish Actors’ Union and a worldwide following as the series became one of Netflix’s most-watched non-English titles.

Riding that success, Lorente joined another Netflix hit, the teen thriller “Elite,” as Fernando “Nano” García during its first two seasons (2018–2019). He then took on the title role of the medieval Castilian hero Rodrigo Díaz de Vivar in the historical drama “El Cid” (2020–2021), showing a range beyond the contemporary characters that first made his name.

His later television work includes “Cristo y Rey” (2023) and “Mano de hierro” (2024), while his film credits span Asghar Farhadi’s “Todos lo saben” (2018), the 1920s-set thriller “La sombra de la ley” (2018), the sports drama “42 segundos” (2022) and “Disco, Ibiza, Locomía” (2024).

Beyond acting, Lorente has pursued other creative outlets, publishing a poetry collection, “A propósito de tu boca,” and releasing music, including the 2022 EP “La Noche.” He has also moved towards directing. One of the most recognisable Spanish actors of his generation, he continues to work across homegrown productions and international streaming projects.

His rise from regional theatre training in Murcia to the cast of one of the world’s most-streamed series is often cited as an example of how Spanish-language productions have found global audiences, and he remains among the most in-demand young actors working in Spain today.
