Itziar Ituno

Itziar Ituño Martínez is a Spanish performer who acts in both the Spanish and Basque languages. She gained widespread recognition for her portrayal of police inspector Raquel Murillo in the television drama Money Heist (La casa de papel).

Born in Basauri on June 18, 1974, Ituño pursued her dramatic training at the Basauri Theater School. Alongside her acting studies, she attended the University of the Basque Country, where she earned a degree specializing in urban-industrial and political sociology.

Her screen career began in 1997 with a role in the Basque feature film Agur Olentzero, agur. In 2001, she secured a major television role in the soap opera Goenkale, playing Nekane Beitia, a law enforcement officer in the fictional town of Arralde. She remained with the program until its conclusion in 2015, a long-running performance that significantly boosted her public profile throughout the Basque region.

During and after her tenure on television, Ituño expanded her film portfolio. She appeared in the 2015 movie Loreak, which was selected as Spain's submission for the Academy Awards, and subsequently featured in the 2016 release Igelak.

In 2017, she joined the cast of La casa de papel, initially broadcast on Antena 3 before being picked up by Netflix. Her performance as Inspector Raquel Murillo brought her international attention. That same year, she served as a presenter for both the Basque Film Gala and the EITB Gala during the 65th San Sebastian International Film Festival.

Beyond her work in screen and stage productions, Ituño is a musical vocalist performing with three distinct groups: Dangiliske, EZ3, and INGOT. In May 2020, it was announced that she would make her English-language acting debut by providing voice work for the British animated short Salvation Has No Name.
