Faith Hill

Audrey Faith McGraw, professionally known as Faith Hill, is an American singer and actress. Recognized as one of the most successful country music artists of all time, she has sold nearly 50 million albums worldwide. Beyond her chart success, she has achieved significant pop crossover appeal, earned five Grammy Awards, and embarked on some of the highest-grossing tours in country music history.

Born Audrey Faith Perry on September 21, 1967, in Ridgeland, Mississippi, she was adopted as an infant and raised by her parents, Edna and Ted Perry, in Star, Mississippi. She began singing at a local church at age three and had her first public performance at seven. During her youth, she performed with the Steele Family gospel quartet and formed a rodeo band at age 17. After graduating from McLaurin Attendance Center in 1986, she briefly attended Hinds Junior College before moving to Nashville at age 19 to pursue a music career. In Nashville, she worked various jobs, including as a secretary for a music publishing firm, before executive Martha Sharp discovered her singing backup for Gary Burr at the Bluebird Cafe and signed her to Warner Bros. Records.

Hill released her debut album, Take Me as I Am, in 1993, featuring the hit single "Wild One," which made her the first female country singer in 30 years to hold the top spot on Billboard's country chart for four consecutive weeks. Her 1995 follow-up album, It Matters to Me, achieved similar commercial success, producing a third number-one country hit. In 1998, Hill released Faith, which signaled a shift toward a more mainstream, pop-oriented sound and yielded her first international hit single, "This Kiss."

Her fourth album, Breathe (1999), became one of the best-selling country albums of all time, driven by the massive crossover success of the title track and "The Way You Love Me." The album earned three Grammy Awards. In 2001, she recorded "There You'll Be" for the Pearl Harbor soundtrack, creating her best-selling single in Europe. Subsequent albums included Cry (2002), which spawned the Grammy-winning single "Cry," and Fireflies (2005), which marked a return to her country roots with hit singles such as "Mississippi Girl" and "Like We Never Loved at All."

Throughout her career, Hill has received five Grammy Awards, 15 Academy of Country Music Awards, and six American Music Awards. In 2006, she and her husband, Tim McGraw, launched the Soul2Soul II Tour 2006, which became the highest-grossing country tour of all time. Billboard named her the Adult Contemporary Artist of the Decade for the 2000s and ranked her as the 39th top artist overall. Additionally, from 2007 to 2012, she performed the introductory theme song for NBC Sunday Night Football. Hill married Tim McGraw in 1996, and the couple has recorded numerous successful duets together.
