Cinta Laura

Cinta Laura Kiehl, born on 17 August 1993, is an Indonesian actress, singer, and model. Recognized for her public service alongside her entertainment career, she was appointed as an ambassador of anti-violence against women and children by the Indonesian Ministry of Women Empowerment and Child Protection in 2019.

Kiehl experienced an international upbringing, living in several countries during her youth, including the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, Singapore, Germany, and Indonesia. After moving to Indonesia at twelve years old, she competed as an Indonesian national swimmer, winning 10 gold medals, 7 silver medals, and 7 bronze medals in various swimming competitions. She later attended Columbia University in New York, where she joined the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority and served as a teaching assistant for Professor Herbert S. Terrace in the psychology department. Kiehl graduated cum laude in May 2014, after which she relocated to Los Angeles to pursue Hollywood acting opportunities under contracts with Netflix and Grindstone Entertainment Group.

Kiehl began her professional career in February 2007 under MD Entertainment. She made her television debut in the 310-episode soap opera Cinderella: Apakah Cinta Hanyalah Mimpi?, which aired on SCTV and Malaysia's TV2. Her role in the show built her popularity and won her the 2007 Indonesia's Best Actress award at the 2007 SCTV Awards. She subsequently starred in the television series Upik Abu dan Laura in 2008 and Air Mata Cinta in 2009, both of which achieved success airing on RCTI in Indonesia and TV3 in Malaysia.

In 2007, Kiehl made her film debut in Oh Baby and contributed to its soundtrack, with the film topping various charts in Indonesia, Malaysia, and Brunei Darussalam. In February 2010, she released her self-titled debut studio album, Cinta Laura, which sold over one million copies. In the summer of 2010, she received the Wannabe Artist Award at the 2010 Nickelodeon Indonesia Kids' Choice Awards. From her second studio album, Hollywood Dreams (2012), she released the singles You Say Aq, Guardian Angel, Cinta Atau Uang, Tulalit, Boomerang, and Playlist.

Kiehl relocated to Los Angeles in 2013 and appeared in the Hollywood-produced film After the Dark (2013) alongside Bonnie Wright and James D’Arcy. Continuing her work with Grindstone Entertainment Group, she was cast in The Ninth Passenger (2018), produced by Corey Large. She also appeared in several Netflix Lifetime films in 2018, including Crazy for the Boys, TAR, Goodnight, and The Nanny is Watching. For her role in Goodnight, Kiehl won Best Film Actress at the 2019 Latino Film awards.

In addition to her international work, Kiehl appeared in several Indonesian films, including Target in 2018, as well as MatiAnak and Jeritan Malam in 2019. That same year, following a seven-year hiatus from music, she returned to the industry with the release of her English-language singles Caliente and Vida.
