Baptiste Giabiconi

Baptiste Giabiconi, born on 9 November 1989, is a French model and singer. He is widely recognized as a muse of designer Karl Lagerfeld and served for many years as the male face of major fashion houses including Chanel and Fendi.

Giabiconi was born in Marignane, Bouches-du-Rhône, into a Corsican family with a father from Bastia and a mother from Calvi. He spent his infancy in Moriani-Plage before relocating to Marseille. He earned a Brevet d'études professionnelles in the food service industry and a professional Baccalauréat in Accueil et Service. After completing six months of training as an aeronautics mechanical adjustor, he worked at the international helicopter company Eurocopter.

His modeling journey began in January 2007 after being scouted at a Marseille sports club. In 2008, he signed with DNA Model Management New York and was selected by Karl Lagerfeld to be the male face of Chanel. Over the following years, Giabiconi closed couture shows for Chanel and appeared in campaigns for brands such as Schwarzkopf, Volkswagen, Monster headphones, Coca-Cola Light, H&M, and Roberto Cavalli. He featured in fashion spreads for publications including Vogue, Elle, Harper's Bazaar, Marie Claire, and V Man. Giabiconi held the top spot on models.com's list of the Top 50 international male models for about two years before moving to their Icons list. In January 2020, he appeared in the television show Stars à nu.

Giabiconi launched his music career in 2010 with the single Showtime. In September 2012, he released his debut English-language album, Oxygen, through the fan-funded label My Major Company, which debuted at number one on the French SNEP Albums Chart. He later participated in the 2012 tribute album Génération Goldman, singing a duo of Là-bas with Marie-Mai. In 2014, he released his second album and French-language debut, Un homme libre, which reached number 44 in France. His biggest musical success came in 2016 with an EDM cover of Donna Summer's Love to Love You Baby, which reached number four on the French Singles Chart.

Beyond modeling and music, Giabiconi co-founded the theme restaurant chain Tokio Sushi in Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur. He launched streetwear capsule collections in 2015 and 2018, released a black-and-white photo calendar in 2016, and briefly served as president and major investor for the football club FC Martigues in 2017. He has also made various television appearances, including roles in Fort Boyard, Top Chef, and the Disney Channel mini-series Mère et fille.

In 2020, Giabiconi published the book Karl et moi, detailing his close, filial relationship with Karl Lagerfeld. On 17 July 2023, he announced the birth of his son, nicknamed Baptiste Jr. Giabiconi.
