Zoe Wees

Zoe Wees is a German singer known internationally for her pop music. She gained widespread attention following the release of her debut single, which charted across multiple countries and reached the top spot on France's SNEP Radio chart as well as the top ten in Belgium.

Born on 13 May 2002, Wees grew up in the Hamburg neighborhood of Dulsberg, where she attended the Grund- und Stadtteilschule Alter Teichweg. She was raised by her mother, who is German, while her father is Jamaican. During her youth, Wees was diagnosed with benign rolandic epilepsy, a condition that created feelings of isolation and helplessness, ultimately shaping her personal outlook and creative perspective.

Wees began writing songs in English during her childhood. Her path toward a professional music career took shape in her teenage years after an instructor approached her following a school concert to collaborate musically. In early 2017, she participated in the fifth season of the television talent contest The Voice Kids, joining the team of pop artist Sasha before being eliminated during the Sing-Off phase.

In March 2020, Wees released her official debut single, "Control." The track addresses her personal struggles with anxiety, loss of control, and her experiences living with epilepsy, while also serving as a tribute to the primary school teacher who encouraged her early artistic development. In April 2021, she followed up with the single "Ghost," a song exploring vulnerability and emotional risk that was co-written alongside Ricardo Muñoz Repko, VVAVES, Nicolas Rebscher, and Patrick Salmy. Both tracks were featured on her debut extended play, Golden Wings, released through Capitol Records in May 2021.

Wees's musical style is characterized as emotional pop, featuring her vocals alongside her own piano and guitar playing. Growing up, she listened to artists such as Miley Cyrus and Jessie J, later citing Jessie J and Lewis Capaldi as key musical influences. In January 2025, she released the single "Traitor," marking her first new solo music output in two years.
