Serena Rossi

Serena Rossi is an Italian actress and singer who was born on 31 August 1985 in Naples. She comes from an artistic family originally from Montefalcone nel Sannio, in the Province of Campobasso, Molise. She is best known for portraying Carmen Catalano in the Rai 3 soap opera Un posto al sole from season eight to season fourteen, spanning 2003 to 2010, a role she later reprised in the spin-off Un posto al sole d'estate.

Rossi began her artistic path with small musical stage roles before securing her breakthrough role in Un posto al sole in 2003. In 2005, she starred in her first lead stage engagement in Mal'aria, a musical set in Naples performed at Teatro Palaparthenope. In 2006, she signed with EMI and released her debut folk-pop extended play, Amore che, featuring five songs written by Franco Fasano that she promoted on television. She also guest-starred in an episode of the detective series Inspector Montalbano in 2008.

In 2011, Rossi portrayed single mother Giulia Sabatini in the Rai 1 series Che Dio ci aiuti, winning the Massimo Troisi Award for Best Comedy Actress. She subsequently appeared in the third season of R.I.S. Roma – Delitti imperfetti in 2012. In 2013, Rossi was selected as the Italian voice of Anna for Disney's animated film Frozen, performing on the official Italian soundtrack album alongside Serena Autieri. She reprised the voice role in subsequent installments. That same year, she starred in the musical Rugantino at Teatro Sistina and released her debut studio album, Nella casa di pepe.

Rossi made her major feature film debut in 2014 in the Manetti Bros. heist comedy Song'e Napule, winning an Italian Movie Award for Best Actress. That year, she competed in the fourth season of Tale e quale show, impersonating artists including Pharrell Williams, Beyoncé, Tosca, Mariah Carey, Michael Jackson, and Elisa. She was also featured in a duet cover song on Matteo Becucci's fourth studio album, Tutti quanti Mery.

In 2017, Rossi starred as Fatima in the musical comedy Love and Bullets, winning a Nastro d'Argento for Best Original Song and a Ciak d'Oro award. She also hosted and served as a judge on various television shows, including Detto fatto, Piccoli giganti, and Celebration. She later provided commentary for the Eurovision Song Contest 2018 finals and dubbed Emily Blunt in Mary Poppins Returns.

Rossi earned critical acclaim in 2019 for portraying singer Mia Martini in the biographical film Io sono Mia, receiving a Special Nastro d'Argento Award. She promoted the film by performing at the Sanremo Music Festival 2019. That year, she appeared in the comedy film Brave ragazze and returned as the voice of Anna in Frozen 2. She followed this with roles in 7 ore per farti innamorare and You Came Back, and starred in the Rai 1 series Mina Settembre from 2021 until February 2025.

In 2024, Rossi starred in Cristina Comencini's drama film The Children's Train. In 2025, she co-wrote, co-directed, co-produced, and starred in the stage musical SereNata a Napoli, launching a national tour with a soundtrack album released in January 2026. In 2025, she also voiced Gal Gadot's Evil Queen character in the live-action film Snow White.
