Rita Volk

Margarita Volkovinskaya, known professionally as Rita Volk, is an Uzbek-American actress. She is best known for her starring role as Amy Raudenfeld in the MTV romantic comedy television series Faking It.

Volk was born in Tashkent, Uzbek SSR, Soviet Union, on September 3, 1990. At six years old, she moved with her family to San Francisco. Her interest in performing began after she was approached by a modeling scout, leading her to audition for commercials and subsequently pursue acting.

She attended Lowell High School in San Francisco, where she acted in school plays and developed an interest in film, which helped her family adjust to American English and culture. In 2005, she earned the SFUSD High School Poet Laureate award. She later attended Duke University, graduating with a degree in psychology on a pre-medical track. While in college, she participated in student films and performed with Duke's sketch comedy troupe, Inside Joke.

Volk's breakthrough came in 2013 when she was cast in the pilot for MTV's Faking It as Amy, one of the main characters, though she had originally auditioned for the role of Karma. The network officially ordered the pilot to series in October 2013.

In addition to her television work, Volk joined the cast of the dramedy film Almost Friends in 2015. She also appeared in the 2017 music video for the theme to the film Christine, directed by John Carpenter.
