Peter Coonan

Peter Coonan is an Irish actor born in 1984. He gained wide recognition for his portrayals in feature films and prominent television series, establishing a career across screen drama and thriller projects.

Coonan's early screen acting career included a notable performance in 2011 as Dave 'Dots' Fennel in the Irish crime drama film Between the Canals. Shortly after, he starred as Mickey Moorehouse in the 2012 feature King of the Travellers.

His breakthrough television work came through the RTÉ One series Love/Hate, running from 2011 to 2014, in which he played the main character Fran Cooney. For his contribution to the show, he was awarded Best Actor in a Supporting Role – Television at the 11th Irish Film & Television Awards.

Following his role in Love/Hate, Coonan appeared in various film and television productions throughout the late 2010s and early 2020s. His film credits include Penance in 2018, Arracht in 2020, and Doineann in 2021. On television, he appeared in Dublin Murders in 2019, as well as The Alienist: Angel of Darkness and Cold Courage in 2020.

In 2022, Coonan took on additional high-profile roles, appearing as Connor Dunn in the television series Peaky Blinders and playing the character Ben in Bad Sisters.

In his personal life, Coonan and his partner Kim O'Driscoll became engaged in 2015. The couple has two daughters: Beth, born in May 2014 at the National Maternity Hospital in Dublin, and Katie, born in 2017.
