Nolan Gerard Funk

Nolan Gerard Funk is a Canadian actor and singer who also holds German citizenship. Born on July 28, 1986, in Vancouver, British Columbia, he competed nationally in gymnastics until the age of 12 as well as in diving. He is best known for portraying Hunter Clarington in Glee, Collin Jennings in Awkward, FBI agent Van White in The Flight Attendant, Angel Eyes in Counterpart, and Conrad Birdie in the 2009 Broadway revival of Bye Bye Birdie.

Funk made his acting debut in 2001 in an episode of Seven Days. In 2002, he starred in the short film Moon in the Afternoon and appeared in the Steven Spielberg-produced series Taken. After playing a captured youth in the 2003 film X2, he guest-starred as Ben Lalonde on Renegadepress.com from 2004 to 2006, receiving a 2007 Leo Award nomination for his performance. He subsequently appeared in television shows such as Smallville, Aliens in America, Lie To Me, Castle, Warehouse 13, and Detroit 1-8-7, alongside roles in feature films including Hollow Man 2, A Girl Like Me: The Gwen Araujo Story, My Name Is Sarah, and Deadgirl.

Funk received his breakthrough role starring opposite Tammin Sursok in the Nickelodeon and Columbia Records television film Spectacular!. Following the film, he delivered his first live concert at New York City's Hard Rock Cafe on January 12, 2009. That same year, Funk made his Broadway debut playing the title character Conrad Birdie in Bye Bye Birdie at Henry Miller's Theatre. While the revival received mostly critical backlash, Funk's performance was highlighted as a critical standout, earning praise from critics Ben Brantley of The New York Times and John Lahr of The New Yorker.

In 2012, Funk co-starred in House at the End of the Street opposite Jennifer Lawrence and Elisabeth Shue. He gained further prominent television roles playing Dalton Academy Warblers frontman Hunter Clarington in Glee and Collin Jennings in the third season of Awkward. Funk then starred in the 2013 erotic thriller The Canyons and appeared as the religious mercenary Luna in the feature film Riddick, which debuted at number one at the box office. In December 2013, he was named the face of Versace's spring/summer 2014 menswear campaign.

Funk continued taking regular television roles, playing a German-speaking assassin named Angel Eyes in the first season of Counterpart. In 2019, he was cast as FBI agent Van White in HBO Max's The Flight Attendant, later sharing a 2021 Screen Actors Guild Award nomination for Best Comedic Ensemble. He went on to star in Netflix's 2022 series Partner Track, where his performance was recognized by Variety, and filmed the 2023 ABC pilot for LA Law. In 2025, Funk took on a starring role in the AI thriller Raptus.
