She is signed to WWE as a performer on the Raw brand and has also competed for Total Nonstop Action (TNA) Wrestling. Over the course of her career, she has held multiple titles, including the WWE SmackDown Women's World Championship, the WWE Women's Tag Team Championship, the TNA Knockouts World Championship, and the inaugural FCW Divas Championship.

Born in Sanford, Florida, McCray grew up in the state and graduated from Oviedo High School. Prior to pursuing professional wrestling, she worked as a dancer for the Orlando Magic basketball team and performed as a background dancer for the rapper Flo Rida. Her father, Shawn McCray, is a musician who later performed her entrance music at SummerSlam in 2025.

McCray signed a contract with WWE in August 2009 and was assigned to Florida Championship Wrestling (FCW), where she defeated Serena Deeb in June 2010 to become the inaugural FCW Divas Champion. Later that year, she competed on the third season of NXT with Kelly Kelly as her pro, ultimately finishing in second place behind Kaitlyn. In January 2012, Naomi made her main roster debut on Raw alongside Cameron as The Funkadactyls. The duo performed as valets and tag team partners until their split in 2014, after which Naomi managed The Usos and challenged for the Divas Championship.

In July 2015, Naomi joined forces with Tamina and debuting NXT wrestler Sasha Banks to form Team B.A.D. during the Divas Revolution storyline. Following an ankle injury in 2016, she returned to the SmackDown brand with a refreshed gimmick called "The Glow." She won her first WWE SmackDown Women's Championship at Elimination Chamber in February 2017. Although she vacated the title shortly after due to an injury, she regained it at WrestleMania 33 in a six-pack challenge and held the championship for 140 days.

In 2018, Naomi won the inaugural WrestleMania Women's Battle Royal. She continued to compete in various singles and tag team storylines over the following years. At WrestleMania 38 in April 2022, she teamed with Sasha Banks to win the WWE Women's Tag Team Championship in a four-way tag team match. In May 2022, Naomi and Banks walked out of an episode of Raw following a creative dispute, leading to an indefinite suspension and the vacation of their titles. In March 2023, Fatu confirmed her departure from WWE.

Following her exit from WWE, Fatu competed for Total Nonstop Action (TNA) Wrestling, where she captured the TNA Knockouts World Championship. She subsequently returned to WWE in January 2024 at the Royal Rumble event. Outside of professional wrestling, Naomi was a main cast member on WWE's reality television series Total Divas from 2013 to 2019 and appeared in the 2017 film The Marine 5: Battleground.
