Mona Matsuoka is a Japanese-American fashion model and DJ who gained international prominence on the runways of major fashion capitals including Paris, Milan, and New York. About and Early Life

Born on February 10, 1998, in Atlanta, Georgia, Mona Matsuoka was raised in a multicultural household with an American father and a Japanese mother. During her childhood, her family moved frequently across the United States before relocating to Hiroshima, Japan, when she was nine years old. Her mother encouraged her interest in modeling by submitting her photograph portfolio to Tokyo-based agencies, leading to her first professional assignment at age ten for the Japanese tween magazine Nico☆Petit. Signed by Bon Image in Tokyo, Matsuoka quickly established herself in the domestic Japanese market before taking her career onto the international stage.

Modeling Career

Matsuoka’s global runway breakthrough occurred at age fifteen when she was selected for an Anteprima show during Milan Fashion Week. She made her formal international runway debut during the Fall/Winter 2014–2015 fashion cycle in Paris, walking for prestigious luxury brands including Chanel, Miu Miu, Kenzo, Dolce & Gabbana, Dior, and Gucci. Following her standout inaugural season, she received the Vogue Japan Women of the Year award in 2014.
