Marjorie De Sousa

Marjorie Lissette de Sousa Rivas is a Venezuelan actress, model, and singer born on April 23, 1980. She began her career in the entertainment industry at age 12 by starring in television commercials and working as a model. In 1999, she entered the Miss Venezuela beauty pageant with designer Giovanni Scutaro, which helped launch her public career.

De Sousa made her screen debut in the 2000 telenovela Toda mujer, followed by a role in Amantes de luna llena on Venevisión. In 2001, she co-starred as Carolina in the popular telenovela Guerra de mujeres. She achieved international projection in 2002 after playing the antagonist Camelia Valente in Gata salvaje, a co-production between Venevisión and Univision. She continued working with Univision on Rebeca and later joined Televisa for the Mexican telenovela Mariana de la noche.

Throughout the mid-to-late 2000s, de Sousa starred in several television projects in Venezuela and abroad, including RCTV's Ser bonita no basta (2005) and Y los declaro marido y mujer (2006). She joined Venevisión's Amor comprado in 2008 as the antagonist Margot. During this period, she also appeared in the feature films Soltera y sin compromiso (2006) and Duelos de pasarelas (2008).

In 2010, she performed on the soundtrack for Pecadora, showcasing her skills as a singer. She subsequently starred in Sacrificio de mujer in 2011 and appeared in the music video for Henry Santos's song "Poquito a Poquito." De Sousa made her theatrical debut in the play Toc Toc in 2012, followed by a role in the 2013 stage production Perfume de Gardenia. Her television work continued with Amores verdaderos (2012) and her first Televisa lead role in Hasta el fin del mundo (2014). She later competed on the reality shows ¡Mira quién baila! in 2013, finishing in third place, and the Spanish-language version of Masked Singer, ¿Quién es la máscara?, in 2020.

De Sousa signed an exclusive contract with Telemundo in 2017, going on to star in the network's telenovela Al otro lado del muro, which debuted in February 2018. Over the course of her career, she has received accolades including a TVyNovelas Award for Best Antagonist in Amores verdaderos and a Miami Life Award for Best Female Protagonist in Sacrificio de mujer, along with nominations for the Juventud Awards and People en Español Awards.

In her personal life, de Sousa was married to Venezuelan actor Ricardo Álamo from 2004 until their divorce in 2006. In 2016, she was in a relationship with actor Julián Gil, with whom she has a son, Matías Gregorio Gil de Sousa. The couple ended their relationship in 2017.
