Madelyn Cline

Madelyn Renee Cline is an American actress and model. She is widely recognized for her starring role in the Netflix teen drama series Outer Banks, as well as her performances in the mystery ensemble feature Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery and the slasher film I Know What You Did Last Summer.

Cline was born on December 21, 1997, and grew up in Goose Creek, South Carolina, located near Charleston. She is the daughter of Pam, a real estate agent, and Mark, an engineer. During her childhood, she entered the entertainment industry by appearing in a commercial for Chuck E. Cheese's. She briefly attended Coastal Carolina University before deciding to leave college and relocate to Los Angeles to focus on an acting career.

Her career began through the Lewis Models & Talent agency based in Charleston. At ten years old, she participated in a talent competition hosted by AMTC, which led to cover appearances for Parent and Parent & Child magazines. Throughout several summers in her youth, Cline worked in New York City on print advertisements and television commercials for brands such as Next clothing, Flow Automotive, Sunny D, and T-Mobile.

After transitioning to television and film, Cline secured early screen roles, including a recurring part as Taylor Watts in Vice Principals from 2016 to 2017 and a minor appearance as Chloe in the 2018 film Boy Erased. She also made brief guest appearances on the series Stranger Things and The Originals in 2017.

Cline achieved widespread visibility in 2020 when she was cast as Sarah Cameron in the Netflix teen adventure drama Outer Banks, a series running through 2026 that gained positive critical responses and served as her breakout project. Following this, she joined the cast of Rian Johnson's critically acclaimed 2022 mystery feature Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, which premiered on Netflix.

Alongside her screen work, Cline has pursued extensive modeling projects, participating in promotional campaigns for Stella McCartney, American Eagle, Toys "R" Us, American Girl, Versace, Cosmo, and Elle. In 2023, she was named a brand ambassador for Tommy Hilfiger, starring alongside Mason Gooding in the label's "Summer Essentials" campaign.

In 2025, Cline appeared in the slasher feature I Know What You Did Last Summer and was cast alongside Johnny Depp and Penélope Cruz in the thriller film Day Drinker.

In her personal life, Cline was in a relationship with her Outer Banks co-star Chase Stokes from June 2020 to October 2021. She was subsequently linked to DJ Zack Bia from late 2021 to early 2022, dated musician Jackson Guthy from mid-2022 to July 2023, and was involved with comedian Pete Davidson between September 2023 and July 2024. She later had a brief relationship with influencer Henry Smith from April to June 2026. Cline has also spoken publicly about experiencing an unspecified eating disorder and body image issues during her teenage years.
