Lynn Lowry

Lynn Lowry, born Linda Kay Lowry on October 15, 1947, in East St. Louis, Illinois, is an American actress, model, and singer. She is best known for her roles in cult horror and independent cinema during the 1970s. Lowry spent much of her youth in Illinois and Georgia, where she actively participated in high school drama programs before studying speech and theater at the University of Georgia. To support her early career, she worked in modeling and live theater prior to moving to New York City to pursue professional acting.

Lowry made her feature film debut in the early 1970s with roles in David Durston's horror film I Drink Your Blood (1970) and Lloyd Kaufman's independent comedy The Battle of Love's Return (1971). She established a strong reputation within the horror genre through key roles in seminal films, including George A. Romero's action-horror movie The Crazies (1973) and David Cronenberg's body horror classic Shivers (1975). Her work during this era also featured appearances in films such as Sugar Cookies (1973), Score (1973), and Jonathan Demme's action drama Fighting Mad (1976).

Throughout the late 1970s and 1980s, Lowry expanded her portfolio to include television and studio feature films. She appeared in the daytime television serial How to Survive a Marriage and had a role in Paul Schrader's fantasy horror film Cat People (1982). Beyond her work on screen, Lowry continued performing in regional theater productions and developed a career as a cabaret and jazz singer, performing vocal sets alongside live musical bands.

Beginning in the mid-2000s, Lowry experienced a resurgence in independent genre cinema, becoming a frequent guest at film festivals and horror conventions. She returned to feature acting with appearances in numerous independent films, including the horror anthology The Theatre Bizarre (2011), Model Hunger (2015), Cynthia (2018), and Fang (2022). She remains active in independent filmmaking and public appearances celebrating cult cinema.
