Lykke Li

Li Lykke Timotej Zachrisson, professionally known as Lykke Li, is a Swedish singer, songwriter, model, and actress. Born on March 18, 1986, her music blends elements of indie pop, dream pop, and electronic genres. She possesses a soprano vocal range. Lykke Li is best known for her hit single "I Follow Rivers." Her studio album releases include Youth Novels, Wounded Rhymes, I Never Learn, So Sad So Sexy, Eyeye, and The Afterparty.

Lykke Li was born in Ystad, Skåne. Her mother was photographer Kärsti Stiege, and her father, Johan Zachrisson, is a member of the Swedish punk-reggae band Dag Vag. Her younger brother, Zacharias Zachrisson, is also a musician. The family moved to Stockholm when she was a toddler, then moved to Portugal, spending time in Lisbon, Morocco, Nepal, and India. She lived in Brooklyn, New York City, for three months at age 19, returning when she was 21 to record her album.

She released her first EP, Little Bit, in 2007. Her debut album, Youth Novels, was produced by Björn Yttling and Lasse Mårtén and released in 2008. Inspired by a three-year relationship, the album received wide recognition and led to performances at major festivals such as Glastonbury, Coachella, and Lollapalooza. During this period, she collaborated with Kleerup, Röyksopp, and Kanye West, and wrote the song "Possibility" for the 2009 film soundtrack of The Twilight Saga: New Moon.

Lykke Li released her second album, Wounded Rhymes, in 2011 to critical acclaim, appearing on best album lists by publications such as The New York Times and Rolling Stone. The album featured "I Follow Rivers," which gained further prominent use through a popular remix by Belgian producer The Magician. Her music was featured in various television series, including Hawaii Five-0, Pretty Little Liars, and The Vampire Diaries. In 2012, she co-founded the Swedish artist collective and record label INGRID.

In 2014, she released her third album, I Never Learn, which debuted at number 29 on the Billboard 200. That year, she made her acting debut in the Swedish crime film Tommy and contributed music to The Fault in Our Stars soundtrack. In 2016, she released music with the supergroup Liv. Her fourth album, So Sad So Sexy, was released in 2018 through RCA, followed by a remix EP in 2019.

Lykke Li released her fifth album, Eyeye, in 2022, accompanied by an immersive museum installation entitled Ü & EYEYE in Los Angeles. Her album The Afterparty was released on Neon Gold Records in May 2026. Aside from her music career, Lykke Li has modeled for brands such as Levi's, H&M, Seven for All Mankind, and Nina Ricci, signed with VIVA Model Management, appeared in Terrence Malick's film Song to Song, and co-founded Yola Mezcal.
